The former Red Devils coach admitted that he was surprised when Celtic passed the chance to sign Boyle during the summer.
Though
Celticwere interested in taking in Australia international and
Hibernianplayer,
Martin Boyle, during last January, the Scottish club chose to discard that option and continue with their two players,
James Forrestand
Jeremie Frimpong. Still according to Rene Meulensteen, the team missed on great opportunity to sign the players.

“I’m actually surprised that a club like Celtic or Rangers haven’t come in for him because he’s got so much to offer and is doing really well for Hibs right now.”
“Martin’s great – he’s full of beans, hard-working, quick, agile and direct. He’s got something special about him, he’s not afraid to run at people and has a heart like a lion.”
“Martin has had a few injury setbacks, but personality-wise he never stops smiling. He’s a good guy and a very good player.”
The possibility for Celtic changing their mind about signing Boyle could be his stats and the higher standards of their players. Other reasons could be their ability to attract better players than the Australian and his injury record.
