Bruno and Van de Beek, the new Manchester United duo

Wed 25 November 2020 | 11:31

Since joining the Red Devils, Van de Beek did have a slow start on the team, but thanks to his performance against Istanbul Basaksehir, he proved that he can be an impressive performer.

According to Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes,

Donny van de Beek

can push, his Portuguese teammate,

Bruno Fernandes

to be at his best since his awareness of the player’s game plan. The Dutchman, who had a rough start with

Manchester United

, displayed a magnificent full-time performance on their 4-1 win against

Istanbul Basaksehir

on Tuesday.

During his talks with

BT Sport

, Ferdinand explained why the Red Devils coach kept his patience with

Van de Beek

and how he can bring out the best out of his teammates, especially

Fernandes

.

“We’ve all been waiting to see Van de Beek play, they spent £40m on him, you want to see more than cameos from him here and there. We’ve been impatient, but today he has justified why he has been brought to the club and why he is thought so highly of in European football.”

"He is the one player in the squad who is happy playing one-touch, two-touch, keeping it simple. He sacrifices parts of his game for other people to flourish, and in any great team you need players like that, who make other players tick. Bruno benefited today from having him in the team.”

Former Man-Utd,

Scholes

also agreed with Ferdinand saying:

“The first 15 minutes were excellent, Van de Beek was instrumental in that with his link-up play with Fernandes. He is very aware of what Fernandes wants to do with the ball. They looked dangerous, they kept creating chances, they looked like they were going to score goals.”

For their next

Champions league

game, Manchester United will face

PSG

before playing against

RB Leipzig

on their final group match.
