Barcelona defeated the Ukrainian club, Dynamo Kyiv, on Tuesday evening in the Champions League with different players in the squad.

Barcelona’s Captain Lionel Messi and Frenkie De Jong stayed at home resting, while Sergio Busquets is sidelined due to injury as well as Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti, and Ronald Araujo. So there were few options for Ronald Koeman on the bench.

The game seemed tough in the first half as the Catalans couldn’t find a way to score but they played impressively in the second half and hammered their hosts with 4 goals and secure the way to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Sergino Dest scored his first goal for the club as well as the first goal of the match, a brace from Martin Braithwaite and Antoine Griezmann got the fourth for Barcelona.

Speaking after the game with Movistar+, Koeman was happy with their show. “We achieved our goal, which was to get a good result and qualify for the round of 16,” he said. “The team has shown energy. We lacked effectiveness in the first half but we had it in the second half. We can be very happy.

“Tactically, we were better than in the first game against them, especially in midfield. We had intensity and concentration. In the first game we lacked that.

“[Mingueza] has shown that we can count on him. He has been training with us for five to six weeks. He has given us a good impression and today he has fulfilled, like many others.

“I liked the collective image we showed today. That’s what we want. Today we have seen a very hungry team. We scored four goals, important players were able to rest, and the youngsters have deserved these minutes. They have delivered.”

Barcelona will take on Osasuna at home on Sunday afternoon, they are now placed in the half-bottom of the league table lagging with 12 points from the league leaders Real Sociedad.
