The ban on betting sponsorship in Spain has not stopped clubs to sell their overseas inventory with Espanyol having closed a sponsorship agreement on Asia with KTO.

Espanyol

had a big leap in interest from China after signing with

Wu Lei

in January 2019. 43% of the club’s social network fans are Chinese from all over the world.

They have grown to 1.98 million followers on digital social platforms which is more than they had at the end ofo the 2017-2018 season.

The KTO deal which initially runs until the end of the season will see the online gambler become an ‘Official Asian Partner’.

KTO will have the right to use all the club signs, images, and advertisements of this club on non-Spanish facing club digital platforms.

KTO is the second regional sponsor of the club in Spain.

Javier Tabes

claimed that this banning law in Spain will cost

La Liga

club about €90 million in revenues.

Gambling advertisments in Spain are restricted. They are allowed to advertise from 1-5am.
