Andersson: ‘Ibrahimovic must show he wants return to Sweden squad’

Ibrahimovic recently hinted at a return to the Sweden national team and Janne Andersson has had his say.

Before

Janne Andersson

decides to invite

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

to the

Sweden

national squad, he must show his interest in returning.

Milan

striker recently posted a photo on social media showing that he is interested in ending his national retirement stating that

“Long time no see”.

Given that Ibrahimovic has had a brilliant performance in

Serie A

, it seems that Andersson is eager to pave the way for a sensational return ahead of next year’s rearranged

Euro 2020

.

"First, it is necessary that he himself wants to be involved in the national team project," Andersson told Aftonbladet. "In 2016 he told me clearly he no longer wants to be part of it.

"I respected his choice then and over the years since. He has to be the one who says he wants to come back. If that is the case, it will then be up to me to decide."

Ibrahimovic has 116 matches for Swden and scored 62 goals, but he has not played for the

Nordic

nation since a 1-0 defeat to

Belgium

at

Euro 2016

.

And Andersson questioned whether the former

Paris Saint-Germain

and

Manchester United

star is serious about reversing his international hiatus.

"We haven't seen each other for a while," Andersson said. "I don't follow him on social media, but in any case, I don't care what he says on there or how he says it.

"I know what he told me and what we agreed when he left the national team. Since then, nothing has changed from my perspective."
