Arsenal’s Pepe received a red card after 51 minutes into the match with The Whites which was only his second game this season. He apologized for his actions on Instagram.
The 25-year-old wrote that he is ‘deeply sorry’ for headbutting Leeds United’s wing-back, Ezgjan Alioski. The two players were being bullied on social media when their clubs took the matter in hand.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, thought of Pepe’s actions as totally “unacceptable”.
"Yesterday I let my team down at a crucial time of the game and there is no excuse for my behaviour," Pepe wrote on Instagram.
"I am deeply sorry and would like to apologise to the fans, my team-mates, my coach and everyone else at the club."
Pepe did not get off to a good start after his second Premier League appearance with scoring only and one assist.
