Arteta: Pepe’s red card is ‘unacceptable’

expressed his feelings about the red card by saying that he ‘let the team down’.

Even Arsenal fans reacted to his red card and some even called him ‘brain dead’ on Twitter.

“It is unacceptable,” Arteta said. “I’ve spoken to him; it is unacceptable.”

“When Pepe let the team down, how we suffered together and stuck to what we had to do.

“Considering how we got Pepe sent off, a draw is okay,

“I never like playing for a draw, but in the circumstances a point is okay.

"In the first 30 minutes, we were more dominant and created a lot of issues. But then the game broke a bit and we gave the ball away in difficult areas.

“We suffered and in the second half we were early with 10 men and it was a matter of defending well and staying patient, and using the pace of our players and the spaces they were leaving.”

Bukayo Saka

could have won the game for Arsenal when he got the chance to get beyond the Leeds defense, but he was eventually stopped by Illan Meslier.

“It was the best chance in the game, but the keeper did very well,” Arteta said. “On another day we could have won the game, but the reality is they had a lot of threats on our box and we were lucky in certain moments.”
