Birmingham City are close to signing Alen Halilović who once was called ‘the Croatian Lionel Messi’.

Birmingham City

could still add free agents to their squad and now they are close to making a deal with

Alen Halilović

. He is Croatia’s youngest ever international.

Halilović, who once was called ‘the Croatian Lionel Messi’, is now a free agent. He left

AC Milan

by mutual consent last month.

He has been linked with Hajduk Split in Croatia, Besiktas in Turkey, and Vasco da Gama in Brazil.

The 24-year-old started his career at Dinamo Zagreb. Then he joined Barcelona and played for their B team only once. He was then loaned to Sporting Gijón and after the 2015/2016 season, he was sold to Hamburg. But his stay at Hamburg did not last long enough as he was loaned to Las Palmas after six months.

In 2018, he joined AC Milan on a free transfer but he was loaned again to Standard Liège and SC Heerenveen. Finally, on October 5 he was released by Milan.
