Manchester City tried to make opportunities against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. City welcomed Sergio Aguero back to the bench for their game against Spurs, but they looked toothless in attack for large periods.
Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards both agree thatManchester City
needs a striker ASAP.
That was despite Ferran Torres hitting a brilliant hat-trick for Spain against Germany in midweek and on the whole impressing forCity
since his summer move from Valencia.
Speaking in pre-match, Redknapp appreciated the Torres impact atCity
but said a striker is still required, with Aguero's injuries has limited the Argentine's game time recently.
“It takes time, sometimes people expect a player to come to the league and hit the ground running."
“Some do, some don’t, but this will give him a lot of confidence, to score a hat-trick against a top side like Germany as well. He looks a really good player."
“I’ve got no doubt thatMan City
will be trying to find the next A-List superstar striker. Sergio can’t keep doing it forever.”
Richards agreed and said: “It needs to be addressed. Jesus does a good job, he doesn’t do it at the same level as Aguero."
“I think Torres has been a real revelation, I didn’t know too much about him when he came, if I’m being honest, but he’s been brilliant.”
