Young midfielder is happy to have more game time at Hertha Berlin.

After clashing with

Brighton

’s

Neal Maupay

in June,

Matteo Guendouzi

was exiled from the

Arsenal

squad and couldn’t regain his position in the squad despite escaping punishment from the Football Association. The 21-year-old was not used again by Mikel Arteta and was eventually loaned to

Hertha Berlin.

Since the start of the new Bundesliga season, Guendouzi has appeared in three games for the Berlin club with the last one being the 5-2 defeat against

Dortmund

on Saturday. In an interview with Telefoot, the French midfielder has spoken about the reason he decided to leave Arsenal for another club.

"I needed to have fun on the pitch, to regain confidence and that's what Hertha offers me. It really is a choice I made,"

"In the space of two seasons I have played more than 80 games with Arsenal.

"When you play less, you start to think and it hurts"

The Gunners loanee also has the goal to become a France international as he has previously played for non-senior France national teams.

"It was a dream since I was little. Being part of it was wonderful," he added.

"I still have in the back of my mind to earn a lot more selections, and to be important in the future."
