Philippe Coutinho is back to rescue Barcelona against Atletico Madrid
Since returning to Catalonia after his loan move with Bayern Munich in Germany, Coutinho has looked revived and had appeared as an influential player in Ronald Koeman’s team before his latest injury.
Apart from Getafe, when he came on the pitch with 30 minutes to go, coutinho has been on the Koeman’s starting squad and recorded two goals and two assists in six games.
He was injured in El Clasico and missed 4 matches against Juventus, Dynamo Kyiv, Alaves and Real Betis. He has recovered now and ready to play against Simeone’s men.
Things have changed while he was away from the games. Barcelona’s captain Lionel Messi has taken Coutinho’s place in midfield, while Antoine Griezman has been playing in the attacking line.
The fitting of Coutinho into his system may be a challenge, with the initial left wing berth in place of the injured Ansu Fati being the most possible choice considering Pedri’s good form.
Barcelona is currently standing in the eighth place of the league table, six points behind Atleti in third and nine off Real Sociedad the league leaders.
