Suárez still positive on Covid-19 ahead of clash against Barca

Wed 18 November 2020 | 20:44

Atletico Madrid forward Luis Suarez will be inaccessible to play against his previous club Barcelona in La Liga on Saturday after another Covid-19 test turned positive.

On Monday, the striker had been one of three individuals in the

Uruguay

camp to test positive for the infection along with goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and team supervisor Matias Faral.

Marca sketched out on Tuesday that

Atletico Madrid

held little expectation that the outcome may have been a bogus positive and he would restore a negative in his next test, yet Diario Sport has now affirmed this isn't the situation and he will miss the match.

The news had come as a monstrous hit to Atleti and the striker on a personal level, with the positive test coming only five days before he was taking on his previous club.

Suarez

has been in great shape for

Diego Simeone

's side in the beginning fixtures of the season – scoring five times in his initial six appearances for The Rojiblancos in La Liga.

The seasoned striker has scored seven goals in his last nine games for club and nation, including Atletic's latest trip – a 4-0 success over Cadiz.
