Davide Ballardini says he made a mistake accepting to be the head coach of Lazio
head coach from 2009 to 2010 and won Italian Supercup with them but he says he regrets his decision now
“I regret taking the Lazio job, as I never should’ve accepted that disastrous situation,” Ballardini told RadioSei.
“There were three players frozen out like Cristian Ledesma, Goran Pandev and Lorenzo De Silvestri. It was assumed we’d sell them during the summer, but after the transfer strategy changed, the problems emerged.
“Despite the fact that Biancocelesti squad was not competitive, we still managed to win the Italian Supercup and did well in Serie A. I made a mistake accepting the role in that context and I shouldn’t have shared their strategy.
“I had given my word and that means something to me, even though it was a completely mad decision. I had already thought about resigning at the start of September, when the transfer window closed. I should’ve done it then, really.”
