Jerome Boateng

will be out of contract in the summer and there was news about

wanting to release him in June in order to make room for Leipzig’s ِDayot Opamecano to join the team. Boateng however has reacted to this news and claims that he has not been informed about this decision.

“Nobody approached me, nobody spoke to me, I didn't know anything about it, I was surprised,” he told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Boateng has been an integral part of Hansi Flick’s 2020-21 Bayern Munchen and has appeared in five Bundesliga matches in the current season. The 32-year-old has had a successful career at the Bavarian team as he has managed to win eight Bundesliga titles along with five DFB Pokal and two Champions League trophies. The German defender has expressed his interest in remaining at Bayern several times but many believe that Bayern needs to replace their defensive players with young footballers who are eager to play for the German giants.
