Lazio and the Corona crisis; Heavy fines await the Italian Eagles

Sun 08 November 2020 | 12:37

positive coronavirus test of several Lazio players before the match with Zenit in the Champions League has created the rumor that Lazio did not submit proper medical reports to the Italian Football Federation.

Hours ago, Sky Sport announced that

Ciro Immobile

,

Thomas Strakosha

and

Lucas Leiva

left the training field yesterday, and thus will not be present in today's match against

Juventus

.

The three players'

COVID19

tests were positive before their previous game against

Zenit

in the third week of the

Champions League

group, although the

Lazio

initially claimed the test results from a UEFA-trusted laboratory were wrong. It seems that they have not been allowed to return to

Serie A

.

The three players left the training ground before Lazio started training yesterday, as the results of their corona test did not fully confirm that they were not infected with the virus.

Everything goes back to 2 weeks ago. When several Lazio players were quarantined under the pretext of being suspicious of Corona, but a number of them went on to play against Torino last week as Lazio announced that the Corona test of several of their players, including

Ciro Immobile

, was negative but the same players could not play against

Zenit

in the Champions League because their corona test was declared positive according to the UEFA protocol.

Significant problems have now arisen for Lazio as the club has not reported any of their players' positive coronavirus tests to Italian health officials.

If Lazio have deceived the Italian health authorities and have not sent a report for their player’s positive COVID19 test, they may face very

heavy fines and even relegation

.

However, Lazio officials have refused to answer the questions regarding this issue.
