Ajax are in urgent need of a positive outcome in front of Midtjylland. However, the problem is they lack the suitable amount of players.

Because of the corona virus pandemic outburst in their camp, Ajax have named a team of just 17 players for Tuesday's Champions League visiting Midtjylland.

Tests of eleven players from the first and second team were positive for

COVID-19

and will not take the trip to Denmark, based on Dutch outlets De Telegraaf and RTL Nieuws.

The club do not accept the reason for the abated numbers in their travelling band.

Some player are omitted from Ajax’s group including Ryan Gravenberch, Davy Klaassen, Dusan Tadic, Andre Onana and Maarten Stekelenburg.

Kjell Scherpen is therefore the only goalkeeper present to Erik ten Hag for the game.

Ajax have gained one point from their opening two Group D competing Liverpool and Atalanta, leaving them in need of a positive result against Midtjylland.

Under

UEFA conditions

, Ajax must play the game if there are 13 or more players on its A list
