England international striker Sterling reacted to the announcement and sent his prayers. 

Man City's number 14 Laporte replied with a blue heart: “Horrible news… RIP, young man.”

England U20 international Tommy Doyle who made his debut for Cityzens in July tweeted: “So sad. RIP, my brother.”
