their number one target on the summer transfer window but their pursuit for the English starlet was unsuccessful due to disagreement with the German side. Man United’s plan was to make

drop their £108m price tag for Sancho but they were surprised when they found out that the German club is serious with the asking price and won’t compromise for a smaller bid. They were clear that Sancho can leave the club but at the right time and for the right price but Manchester didn’t fulfill the financial requirements for the transfer and Sancho stayed at Dortmund for at least another season. In a recent interview with ZDF Sports, Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has spoken about Sancho’s transfer and his view on United’s plan to sign the player.

"Perhaps a club that wanted him misjudged it and believed we were ready to compromise,

"We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer.

"In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable. But we absolutely do not want to give anyone up.

"I heard and read everywhere in the spring that Sancho was gone. But he's here. We had an agreement with him and it didn't look like that."

It remains to be seen whether United’s pursuit for Sancho will continue in the next transfer window or they will go for another player with Dortmund being clear about not wanting to give up their young star.
