Willian proved class against Fulham - Holding
As per Teammate Rob Holding, in his debut against Fulham, Willian showed exactly why Arsenal were interested to sign him from Chelsea.
In the first Premier League game with this new club, the Brazilian international impressed everybody. He joined Arsenal on a three-year arrangement last month when his chelsea deal expired.
After an initial goal by Alexandre Lacazette, he set up Gabriel and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the second and third goals at Craven Cottage for Arsenal.
Willian was the first player to provide for two assists in his debut in the Premier League since Ray Parlour in August 1992.
In Arsenal's 3-0 opening day, Holding was delighted by what he saw from Willian and reserved support for Gabriel, a new team-mate who made an impression in both respects.
"I know Willian from when we've played Chelsea," Holding told the Evening Standard. "I know he's got all the skills so it's nice to have him in your side.
"He demonstrated why we signed him and Gabriel was also great. He won everything aerially and finished off with a nice goal too."
Arsenal finished last season with an FA Cup victory and took off from the start, defeating Liverpool in the Community Shield prior to the success of their weekend.
His participation in all 3 games was strong and his dream is that the first team manager Mikel Arteta will keep the optimistic momentum going.
"It's always good to win with a clean sheet." "In the first game of the season we decided to make a little statement.
"The first one to meet with us. Most teams would have looked and seen the scores, so it is a good start to get a good 3-0 victory.
"Finishing the season with a trophy and starting this one with the Community Shield win... we've got a load of confidence coming in and now we want to have a good run and go for it. They will visit West Ham on next Saturday.
