PSG plotting shock transfer move for Manchester United ace

There are some rumours that PSG are reportedly preparing a shock summer move for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, whom the Parisians manager Thomas Tuchel admires the most. PSG’s Sporting director Leonardo also looks to be interested in bringing the Englishman to Parc des Princes, trying to field a star-studded attacking line up next season. However, it is understood that Man Utd, who are unlikely to let go of their homegrown talent, would anyhow demand a fee of £100m for Rashford’s transfer.

PSG have always been home to some expensive transfers; hence Rashford’s interest doesn't come as a surprise at all. The recently crowned Ligue 1 Champions have been linked with an array of impressive names - likes of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ismael Bennacer, Allan St Maximin - ahead of next season. Furthermore, there has always been talks around the future of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, who are being wanted by FC Barcelona and Real Madrid – although both are likely to remain in Paris next term. Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani is approaching the end of his reign with Les Parisians, who have Mauro Icardi as the former’s successor beforehand. The Argentine remains the only signing as of now after PSG agreed to sign him permanently from Inter Milan.

Rashford has been a vital cog in United’s attack this season, toiling hard for his side to achieve a place in the top four of the Premier League table. Having shown a great partnership with Antony Martial, the Red Devils boast one of the dangerous attacking line-ups in Europe. The 22-year-old has garnered 21 goals and 10 assists to his name in all competitions this season – much better return compared to his previous season. The icing on the cake is that Rashford is in line to receive Doctorate from the University of Manchester for his services both on and off the field.

It is highly unlikely for PSG, despite their pulling power, to seek the services of Rashford next summer given his importance to the Red Devils. Barcelona and Real Madrid came knocking the doors in the past with eye-catching offers only for the Three Lions star to stay put at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is rebuilding a potent side where Rashford makes up the core alongside few.

PSG will be looking to add reinforcements in the transfer window notwithstanding the financial impairments caused by the pandemic. While midfield and defence would be the areas that Tuchel would like to rejuvenate, there is less need for the attacking reinforcements as they have Neymar, Mbappe, Angel di Maria, Eder Sarabia at their disposal – none of them expected to leave this summer.

Having declared the winners of the Ligue 1 this term, Les Parisiens now awaits Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
