?EC Qualification: Estonia vs Germany match preview & lineups

Sun 13 October 2019 | 6:38

Germany have traveled to Tallinn to face Estonia tonight in the European Championship Qualifiers, matchday six.

The two teams met for the reverse qualifier back in June, when Estonia were thrashed 8-0 in Mainz by Germany.

Estonia are without a victory in their last five matches but managed to end a run of four consecutive losses on Thursday, as they ended in a goalless draw their visit to Belarus.

On the other side, there are Germany racing for the qualifying spots alongside the Netherlands and Northern Ireland with all three on 12pts. On Thursday, the Germans drew 2-2 in a friendly against an Argentina side that did not contain Lionel Messi.

Going on the pitch Die Mannschaft will be without injured duo Toni Kroos and Jonas Hector while on the other side Karel Voolaid has no new injury concerns, and will have almost a complete squad ready to play against Germany.

Teams’ background

The first interesting fact to know is that before the match in Mainz, it has been 80 years since these sides last met, Ernst Lehner and Reinhard Schaletzki on target in a 2-0 friendly win in 1939.

This will be the first game between the two nations on Estonian turf.

Sunday's fixture will be the fifth meeting between the two sides overall, with Germany winning all meetings by an aggregate score of 19-1.

Germany have a 100% record against Estonia, winning each of their previous four meetings.

Löw’s men have won all three of their qualifiers away from home during the current campaign, picking up three points in the Netherlands (3-2), Belarus (2-0) and Northern Ireland (2-0).
