Alphonse Areola swap transfer with Keylor Navas is almost done
The current French champions have been heavily linked with Real’s goalkeeper Keylor Navas who is now ready to leave the Spanish capital in order to get more minutes on the pitch.
Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane recently played down suggestions that Navas could leave the Bernabeu before the European transfer deadline on September 2.
However, the Costa Rica international is said to be frustrated with his number two status at the club, leading to suggestions that the 32-year-old is on his way out.
According to Cadena Cope, Navas is closing in on a move to Paris in a deal which will see Areola - the second choice to Gianluigi Buffon last season - head to the Spanish capital.
The 26-year-old has played over 100 times for PSG in all competitions, while he has experience of the Spanish top-flight having turned out for Villarreal during the 2015-16 campaign.
As well as Areola, Madrid will reportedly receive a cash sum from the French champions.
Le Nacion is reporting that PSG expect the keeper to fly in for talks "in the coming hours" and AS reports that "the deal will be concluded on Thursday".
But Real are believed to want a straight replacement for the keeper position in 26-year-old Areola.
That should mean the £17.5m projected fee for Navas is written into the swap deal.
Acting as back-up to Courtois for another season is not what the Costa Rican desires at this stage of his career.
In five years at the Bernabeu Navas has succeeded club legend Iker Casillas and won three Champions League crowns, playing in each final.
However the arrival of Courtois last season pushed the 32-year-old down the pecking order.
As per the new development, Navas’ potential arrival in the French capital will see Areola going the other way to Madrid where he will play a second-fiddle role to Thibaut Courtois.
