It seems like Arsenal chiefs are trying to sign Mikel Arteta, Man City’s assistant as their new head coach!

They have been pictured while they were leaving

Mikel Arteta's

mansion last night and so it is assumed that Arsenal have stopped searching for a substitute for Unai Emery.

The former Gunners captain who is now the assistant manager of Guardiola at Manchester City has been linked strongly with replacing Emery since he left the Gunners and now it seems he has stolen the ball from the other nominees.

It has been revealed that Vinai Venkatesham has been accompanied by

the club lawyer Huss Fahmy

, in the two-and-a-half hour meeting, which ran from Sunday night through the early hours this morning.

The meeting was held a few hours after Arsenal were thrashed against Man City with a 3-0 result at the Emirates.

The Gunners have had a tough situation in the past few months and it was after their defeat last night when their interim coach, Freddie Ljungberg, who is in charge of the team now, urged the Emirates hierarchy to make a decision over the managerial position as soon as possible.

It also has to be mentioned that the Gunners have made initial approaches for Bordeaux coach Paulo Sousa and Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira but the club did not follow up their interest. However, there are many other names linked to fill the vacancy. The list includes Carlo Ancelotti who is unattached at the moment, Massimiliano Allegri (former Juventus boss), Rafa Benitez (Dalian Yifang), Patrick Vieira (Nice), Mauricio Pochettino who is the former Tottenham boss, Eddie Howe (Bournemouth), and Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolves).
