Going over the PSG captains history, the first name on our list is

Claude Makelele

. This former footballer was born in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1973. At the age of 4, he moved to France. It is interesting to know that his father, Andre-Joseph Makelele, was a footballer too.

Claude Makelele started playing football at Melun-Dammarie in 1989. After 1 year, this former player joined Brest. In 1991, his senior career started as he moved to Nantes. This midfielder kicked the ball for this club for 6 years and then joined

Marseille

, however, after only 1 season, he moved to Celta Vigo.

Makelele played for this team until 2000 and then signed with

Real Madrid

. He kicked the ball for the Whites until 2003 and then moved to

Chelsea

Joel Bats

The next footballer in the PSG captains history is the French former player, Joel Bats. This former goalkeeper was born in Mont-de-Marsan, France in 1957. He began playing football in the youth academy of FC Sochaux. In 1974, his senior career started. Bats kicked the ball at Sochaux B for 2 years and then moved to the main team.

After playing for Sochaux until 1980, this former goalkeeper signed with Auxerre in 1980. Bats kicked the ball for this club until 1985 and then joined Paris Saint-Germain. He played for The Parisians for 7 years and ended his career in 1992. 

During his time at PSG, Bats played in 254 matches. In 1986, the Parisians won their first Ligue 1 title and Bats was their goalkeeper. This former footballer also won the Euro 1984 with the national team of France. He won just these 2 trophies during his career and many other PSG captains have won more titles. Therefore, Bats could be considered one of the

. This brilliant defender was born in Beaumont-sur-Oise, France in 1995. It is interesting to know that his mother is Haitian and his father is Congolese.  

This outstanding player began playing football at AS Eragny in 2002 and after 3 years, Kimpembe moved to Paris Saint-Germain. In 2014, the senior career of this brilliant footballer started. As you might know, as Kimpembe has been playing for The Parisians since he was 10, he is one of the few footballers who were trained by this club among the current PSG players. This center-back is also the vice-captain of his team.

Presnel Kimpembe, who is one of the

, has won 5 Ligue 1 titles, 5 Coupe de France, 4 Coupe de la Ligue, and 5 Trophee des Champions titles with The Parisians. He has also won the World Cup 2018 and the UEFA Nations League 2021 with the French national team.

Fabrice Poullain

Fabrice Poullain is also one of the footballers in the PSG captains history. He was born in Alencon, France in 1962. This former footballer started playing professionally in 1980 at FC Nantes. He kicked the ball for this club until 1985 and then moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

Poullain played for The Parisians for 3 seasons and joined Monaco in 1988. After 2 years of playing for this club, he moved to OGC Nice. Poullain kicked the ball for this club until 1992 and then finished his career as a footballer.

. Born in Pescara, Italy in 1992, he took his first steps in football at Manoppello in 2000. You might not know that this Italian player used to support

In 2006, Verratti joined Pescara and 2 years later, his senior career started. This brilliant midfielder kicked the ball for this club until 2012 and then joined Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, he has been playing for The Parisians and he is now the vice-captain of his team.

Marco Verratti is without a doubt one of the best Paris Saint-Germain captains and has won 1 Serie B title with Pescara and 7 Ligue 1 titles, 6 Coupe de France, 6 Coupe de la Ligue, and 8 Trophee des Champions with The Parisians. He also won the Euro 2020 title with the national team of Italy, when they beat England in the final in London.

Jean-Pierre Dogliani    

The next player in the PSG captains history is the former French player, Jean-Pierre Dogliani. Born in Marseille in 1942, he began playing football professionally at Marseille in 1961. Dogliani kicked the ball for this club until 1964 and then moved to Angers.

After playing for Angers for 7 years, this French footballer joined Bastia, where he kicked the ball for only 1 season. Dogliani then moved to

Monaco

and again after 1 season, he left the club. This former footballer then joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he ended his career in 1976.

Jean-Pierre Dogliani passed away in 2003. During 3 years of playing for PSG, Doglian made 57 appearances and scored 8 goals. This former midfielder won just 1 Ligue 2 title with Angers and never won a title with PSG, so he could be considered as one of the worst Paris Saint-Germain captains.

Frederic Dehu 

The next name in the

is Frederic Dehu. This former footballer was born in Villeparisis, France in 1972. He started playing professionally at Lens in 1991 and kicked the ball for this team until 1999. After that, Dehu moved to

Barcelona

, however, after only 1 season, he left the club.

In 2000, Dehu joined Paris Saint Germain and played for The Parisians until 2004. This former center-back then joined Marseille and kicked the ball there for 2 seasons. In 2006, he moved to

Levante

, where he finished his career in 2007.

Frederic Dehu made 118 appearances for The Parisians. He won 1 Ligue 1 and 1 Coupe de la Ligue title with Lens and 1 Coupe de France and 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup with Paris Saint-Germain. Due to his titles, in comparison with other captains, Dehu is one of the worst PSG captains.

Pauleta

Pedro Miguel Carreiro Resendes who is known as

Pauleta

, is also in the PSG captains history. This former footballer was born in Ponta Delgada, Portuga in 1973. He started playing football at Santa Carla in 1987 and after 2 years, he moved to Porto.

The senior career of this Portuguese striker started in 1990 when he moved back to Santa Carla. After 2 years, Pauleta joined Operario, where he kicked the ball until 1994. After playing for Angrense and Micaelense for a short time, Pauleta moved to storil. He kicked the ball there for 1 season and then joined Salamanca. This former striker played there until 1998.

In 1998, Pauleta moved to Deportivo La Coruna and after 2 years, he joined Bordeaux. After playing there for 3 years, this retired footballer signed with Paris Saint-Germain. He kicked the ball for The Parisians until 2008 and then ended his career.

Pauleta played in 168 games for PSG and scored 76 goals. He won 1 La Liga and 1 Supercopa de Espana with Deportivo La Coruna, 1 Coupe de la Ligue with Bordeaux, and 2 Coupe de France and 1 Coupe de la Ligue with Paris Saint-Germain.

Thiago Silva   

The next name in the PSG captains history is the Brazilian footballer,

Thiago Silva

. This brilliant player, who was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1984, started playing football at Fluminense FC. In 2002, his senior career started as he joined RS Futebol, where he kicked the ball for 1 season.

In 2003, Silva moved to EC Juventude and again after 1 season, he joined FC Porto B. in 2005, this Brazilian footballer signed with Dynamo Moscow but left there after a short time. In 2006, Silva moved to Fluminense FC, where he kicked the ball for 3 years.

In 2009, this brilliant player joined

AC Milan

. After 3 years of kicking the ball for the Black and Reds, Silva moved to Paris Saint-German. He played for The Parisians until 2020 and then joined Chelsea, where he is playing now.

During his 8 years at PSG, Thiago Silva showed up in 204 games. He has won 1 Copa do Brasil with Fluminense FC, 1 Serie A and 1 Supercoppa Italiana with AC Milan, 7 Ligue 1 titles, 4 Coupe de France, 7 Trophee des Champions, and 5 Coupe de la Ligue titles with Paris Saint-Germain, and 1 UEFA Champions League and 1 UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea. Due to his achievements, Thiago Silva is one of the best PSG captains.

Marquinhos

The last name on the list of Paris Saint-Germain Captains is their current captain, Marcos Aoás Corrêa, known as

Marquinhos

. This brilliant defender was born in Sao Paulo in 1994. He began playing football at Corinthians in 2002. His senior career began in 2011 and he kicked the ball for this team until 2012.

In 2012, Marquinhos was loaned to

Roma

and the following year, he signed with them. After a short time, Marquinhos joined his current club, Paris Saint-Germain. This brilliant footballer has been playing for The Parisians since 2013. During this time, he has kicked the ball in around 220 matches for his team.

Marquinhos has won 1 Copa Libertadores with Corinthians and 6 Ligue 1 titles, 6 Coupe de France, 6 Coupe de la Ligue, and 6 Trophee des Champions titles with PSG. This Brazilian player has also won the Copa America 2019 with his national team. he is surely one of the best Paris Saint-Germain captains.
