are quite promising and can be quite thrilling to watch if teams manage to deliver on their promises.

Last season was just as amazing as always as we got to see Chelsea make history by somehow reaching the final and beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final to get their hands on the iconic trophy. Surely with the incredible and quite unbelievable transfer window that we have had this summer, things are only going to escalate and get that much more interesting in the Champions League.

UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Group Stage

From Manchester City versus Paris Saint-Germain, to Bayern Munich versus Barcelona and Juventus versus Chelsea, we have got some pretty exciting matches on our hands this season. Here is everything you need to know about the

2021-22 Champions League Group Stage fixtures

.

Group A

  • Manchester City

  • Paris Saint-Germain

  • Club Brugge

  • Leipzig

The

UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage

is adamant on giving us one of the highly-anticipated encounters of the season as we are quite lucky to see the two star-studded sides of

Manchester City

and

Paris Saint-Germain

go head to head in an attempt to earn the top spot in Group A. The first match-day of the season has already come and gone as Pep Guardiola’s side managed to earn a 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig, while Pochettino’s men were held to a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge.

RB Leipzig

were phenomenal last season in Bundesliga as they managed to move up the ladder and finish as runners-up behind Bayern Munich and above Borussia Dortmund. Perhaps they might not have the same sting to their gameplay as Bavarians have now signed Leipzig’s manager and two of their main center-backs. Club Brugge have made history already as they not only held back Lionel Messi from scoring, but they also earned themselves a much-deserved 1-1 draw.

Even though nothing is impossible in the world of football and any of the four teams could go through to the next round, the odds are that PSG and Man City are going to be the ones who go through. The only question remaining is that who will snatch the top spot? The UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Group Stage will see Manchester City lock horns with PSG on the second match-day of the season.

Group B

  • Liverpool

  • Atletico Madrid

  • FC Porto

  • Milan

Group B might be the so-called “Group of Death” in the

UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage

as it consists of four of the best clubs in the world, including Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and AC Milan. This group is jam-packed with star-studded teams and we are surely going to enjoy watching them go head to head for a chance to go through to the knock-out rounds. Liverpool have taken the first three points from their first game against AC Milan as they managed to complete a comeback against the Serie A side.

Atletico and Porto were held to a 1-1 draw, which left each of them with 1 point. The UCL 2021-22 Group Stage line-ups are always announced prior to each game by the clubs themselves. Diego Simeone might have some things to think about as Antoine Griezmann’s return to

Atletico Madrid

has not been what fans might have expected from the Frenchman. The 2018 World Cup winner has neither scored nor provided an assist in his last few games since joining Rojiblancos on loan from Barcelona.

On the other hand, however, Porto’s Mehdi Taremi and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah are absolutely on fire as we have seen some impressive performances from the two world-class players in recent games.

AC Milan

might have to put in a lot more effort if they want to survive the UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage. Of course they did put in all they had away from home against Liverpool. But their comeback in the first half was short-lived after Mohamed Salah and Jordan Hendrson managed to add two more goals to their tally.

Group C

  • Ajax

  • Borussia Dortmund

  • Besiktas

  • Sporting CP

How many goals is Erling Haaland going to score in the

UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage

? Well, we will have to wait and see how the Norwegian wonderkid performs this season. But Group C is not all about

Borussia Dortmund

and Haaland as we have got some impressive talents from

Ajax

, Besiktas and Sorting CP as well. Ajax and Dortmund have already taken home three points from the first match-day as both Besiktas and Sporting CP failed to impress against the two powerhouses.

It is not so surprising that the race for the top spot is going to be between Ajax and Dortmund in Group C. Dortmund are currently fourth in Bundesliga with 4 wins and two defeats despite having scored the second-most goals in the entire league. They narrowly escaped a draw against Besiktas as they emerged victorious against the Turkish side with a 2-1 victory. Ajax, on the other hand, has been going quite strong in the Eredivisie with 6 wins and a draw, which has put them on top of the Dutch top-flight.

Sporting CP were absolutely humiliated against Ajax on matchday 1 as the Portuguese side were crushed 5-1 against the clearly superior Dutch side. The 2021-22 Champions League Group Stage fixtures will have Dortmund host Sporting CP while Besiktas visit Ajax on matchday 2.

Group D

  • Real Madrid

  • Inter

  • Shakhtar Donetsk

  • FC Sheriff

Inter

and

Real Madrid

meet again in the UCL. But the two footballing powerhouses locking horns with each other in the

UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Group Stage

is not the only exciting point about Group D. FC Sheriff, who are playing in their very first Champions League, have managed to impress everyone with the phenomenal performance against Shakhtar Donetsk. The Moldovan side will be facing Real Madrid on matchday 2 as Shakhtar Donetsk host Inter.

The Italian side are currently third in Serie A behind AC Milan and Napoli. They lost the first match of the group stages against Real Madrid despite pushing on for a goal or two throughout the whole game. Perhaps it was only thanks to Thibaut Courtois’ brilliance in goal that saved Los Blancos from a humiliating defeat against Inter as Rodrygo’s goal secured the Spanish giants a 1-0 win at home.

All eyes will be on FC Sheriff tonight as everyone will be eager to see how they perform against another world-class club in the UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage.  Their 2-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk has certainly put them on the radar, which will give them the motivation they need to even hold off goliaths such as Real Madrid.

Group E

  • Bayern Munich

  • Benfica

  • Dynamo Kyiv

  • Barcelona

If it were last season or any other season other than the current campaign, we would have claimed with absolute certainty that

Bayern Munich

and Barcelona are definitely going to go through the UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage and reach the knockout rounds without any question. But with everything that has been going on and with the poor form that Barcelona have been in, a little extra effort from Benfica or Dynamo Kyiv’s side might cause the Catalans to slip and lose the qualification spot to the either of the clubs in the group.

Ronald Koeman and his men were battered by Bayern Munich, who ran a rout over the Spanish giants with a 3-0 victory at Camp Nou. Since then,

Barcelona

have recorded two draws and a win and are going to visit Benfica in the second round of

2021/22 UCL Group Stage matches

. While 2020 Sextuple winners are favorites to qualify for the knockout rounds as group leaders, Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv seem to be on the same level as they came to a 0-0 draw on Matchday 1.

Barcelona’s Memphis Depay started off the season with stellar performances and promised a lot during the first weeks of the new La Liga campaign. But the Dutchman failed to deliver against Bayern Munich and has been going through a tough period in the Spanish top-flight as well. On the other hand, the Bavarians are certainly happy to have Robert Lewandowski, one of the greatest strikers of all time, at their disposal. The Polish striker has been absolutely phenomenal for Bayern Munich since joining the club in 2014.

Group F

  • Young Boys

  • Atalanta

  • Villarreal

  • Manchester United

When Cristiano Ronaldo returned to

Manchester United

, many thought that the Red Devils were now going to be unstoppable in both the Premier League and in the UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage. But all their expectations thrown out the window when United fans witnessed their side succumb to a shock 2-1 defeat against Young Boys, who showed everyone that an individual is not as important as a whole unified team.

Of course it is too early to call it for Manchester United as they are more than capable of returning to the very top of Group F. However, they will be facing quite the resistance as they are in the same group as Atalanta and Villarreal, both of whom know how to defend. The Italian and Spanish sides actually came to a 2-2 draw on the first week of the UCL. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to think about his tactics before facing Villarreal, which is why we might see some changes in the UCL 2021-22 Group Stage line-ups.

The main talking point about Manchester United in both the UK and the whole world has been the matter of penalty-kicks. Bruno Fernandes’ horrendous penalty miss against Aston Villa in the dying moments of the game cost the Red Devils a point as they lost the home match 0-1. Who do you think will be taking the penalties at Manchester United from now on?

Group G

  • RB Salzburg

  • Sevilla

  • LOSC Lille

  • Wolfsburg

The only group in the UEFA Champions League 2022 Group Stage in which everything is up for grabs as all teams are balanced in every way is Group G. This particular group includes RB Salzburg, Sevilla, Lille and Wolfsburg. All four are top clubs in their respective leagues and two are actually last season’s league champions.

While

LOSC Lille

and RB Salzburg managed to win Ligue 1 and the Austrian Bundesliga last season respectively,

Sevilla

came fourth behind the top-3 clubs in La Liga and Wolfsburg did the same in the Bundesliga. There are no other groups in the tournament that can be as well-balanced as Group G and we will surely enjoy watching these clubs lock horns for weeks to come.

The first matchday saw all four teams get away with 1 point each as both games in the group ended in a draw. Salzburg visited Sevilla on matchday 1 as Lille hosted Wolfsburg at home. The German representatives are currently third in the Bundesliga behind Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich with 13 points. Sevilla’s situation in the league is pretty much the same at the time of writing. It is quite difficult to call which one of these clubs will go through to the next round in the end, which adds extreme intensity to Group G.

Group H

  • Juventus

  • Chelsea

  • Zenit

  • Malmo

The final group in the 2021-22 Champions League includes world-class clubs such as Juventus and Chelsea, while also including less continentally successful clubs such as Zenit and Malmo. Group H already has two favorites and it is highly unlikely that we will see either Zenit or Malmo in the knockout rounds, considering that they will have to go through Chelsea and Juventus to have a shot at earning a spot in the next round.

The UCL 2021-22 Group Stage line-ups for match-day 2 have not been announced as of yet, but Juventus are certainly missing Cristiano Ronaldo as they are going through quite a rough patch in Serie A.
