Showing off the big guns at the start of PlayStation showcase 2021 game list, this was what we were all waiting for, to see if Kratos will do Nordic Gods what he did to the Greece ones?
For the fans that have been patiently waiting on an update from the Santa Monica Studio, they offered us a first genuine look at the next game of God of war series called God of War: Ragnarök.
With a three-minute teaser revealing a magnificent comeback for grizzled God Kratos and his son Atreus, God of War Ragnarök brought the packed presentation to a conclusion.
The trailer showed us more than we asked for. As Ragnarok approaches, it looks that tensions between Kratos and Atreus are running high. The two are reunited with Mimir, the Norse God of Knowledge, as well as Sindri and Brok, the two blacksmiths.
As the trailer nears its end, we see that Thor asks Kratos if he is a “reasonable and calm person” and if you know Kratos good enough you most definitely will agree that he is reasonable to some extent but calm? No way.
The trailer also reveals that Kratos and Atreus are looking for The Nordic god of war, Tyr, to help them defeat the Gods? Maybe.
With numerous biomes to explore, God of War Ragnarok's gameplay looks just as cruel, beautiful, and devastatingly violent as we'd anticipate.
But this game was just the start, and we yet must explore the
Playstation showcase 2021 game list
By Spidermen we mean Peter and Milles but By Venom we certainly mean the black goop symbiote that is the iconic villain of the Spiderman universe. At the PS5 Showcase, Sony unveiled Marvel's Spider-Man 2, with a teaser video showing Miles and Peter fighting the legendary villain Venom, an alien symbiote with a lust for blood.
Venom might be the Spider-toughest Men's test yet, as it is much tougher than the thugs Miles and Peter fight earlier in the trailer. Venom won't be alone, though, as a menacing voiceover implies that another predator may be on the search for the Spider-Men.
We yet must see who will join Venom in its fight against the heroes of the story. It will be very thrilling to see Sandman standing by Venom to create the iconic alliance of Spiderman 3 movie, with a small difference of course. Spiderman will be accompanied not by Green Goblin or Harry Osborne but by Milles Morales.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released on the PlayStation 5 in 2023, according to the teaser. Unfortunately, this means we'll have to wait a bit until we can play the game for ourselves. The next game is not only a Marvel game but also an x-men related one, thus let us progress through the Playstation showcase 2021 game list.
The game came as a surprise as gamers were not expecting a wolverine game, at least not at this time. But as said before PlayStation showcase was full of surprises and the announcement of The Wolverine was one of them.
Of course, the game is in its early stages of development and the teaser was CGI which indicated that there is still no game to show but it is exciting to know that Insomniac Games is working on such a title.
Marvel's Wolverine is a standalone game directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who previously headed the team on Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.
That's good news for the game because Miles Morales was a hit, but there's a significant difference between Marvel's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Weapon X.
Gran Turismo 7 is also another game on the Playstation showcase 2021 game list. Gamers were waiting for a next-gen driving game from PlayStation and here it is now. The game's amazing usage of ray-traced reflections was showcased in the newest video.
We also saw the game's livery editor, new vehicles, courses, picture mode, single-player campaign, and some new behind-the-wheel gameplay video.
Just like the Wolverine teaser trailer, there was no release date mentioned in the trailer for Gran Turismo 7. After the event, Herman Hulst, the Head of PlayStation Studios, announced that the game will be released on March 4, 2022.
The game had some troubles, and it was originally scheduled to be released exclusively on PS5 in 2021.
However, Sony announced in June on the PlayStation Blog that the game will not only miss its 2021 release date due to delays caused by the coronavirus epidemic but would also miss its 2022 release date. but that it will be available on PS4 and PS4 Pro as well.
Stay tuned as we explore the list of games in the
PlayStation showcase recap
There also were trailers for games that we have already seen like Rainbow Six Extraction which was announced during E3 2019. Along with Rainbow six, there were other games like Deathloop, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Project Eve, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Forspoken.
E3 2019 saw the debut of Deathloop. It was also shown off during Sony's PlayStation 5 presentation in June 2020, indicating that the game would be released on the PlayStation 5 as a timed console exclusive in late 2020, with a Windows release. But the game got delayed and here we are with a new release date for the game which is September 14, 2021.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is one of the games from the Playstation showcase 2021 game list that we have already seen in E3 2019. Another supernatural and fighting game that will hopefully please the gamers.
Project Eve is still in production, with producer Jackie Lee telling the press that "a lot of progress on the title" has been made since its April 3rd announcement.
Guardians of the Galaxy was initially leaked in January 2017, when Marvel Entertainment announced a partnership with Square Enix to create a variety of Marvel-based games.
The game was revealed during E3 2021, and it will be published on October 26, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Where did we see Forspoken you may ask? Forspoken was initially known as Project Athia. Project Athia was renamed and had a trailer to be shown in the PlayStation showcase.
We get a fuller introduction to heroine Frey Holland in the three-minute video, who is an average New Yorker who finds herself stranded in the mysterious country of Athia. For all those magic lovers out there, this game is the thing that you are looking for.
There were also some minor games that were announced but didn’t claim the spotlight of the show. Games like Bloodhunt (Vampire: The Masquerade), Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and Tchia.
Bloodhunt will be a battle royale taking place in the universe of Vampire: The Masquerade. Tchia was new and didn’t present that much about the game. What we know of it is that it’s a fun and cartoony kind of game which will make you use your brain and solve puzzles in an open world and colorful environment.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a new game that was born after the events of Borderland 2 and its DLCs.
Wonderlands will enable four-player cooperative combat utilizing randomly generated weapons and loot, similar to Borderlands, but with a concentration on magic and melee weapons rather than guns.
The game's concept had been in development for more than 10 years, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.
It will also include Andy Samberg as Captain Valentine, Wanda Sykes as Frette the robot, and Will Arnett as the Dragon Lord, in addition to Ashly Burch as Tiny Tina. It will be published on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Series X/S on March 25, 2022.
PlayStation showcase 2021 game list has come to an end but there are some games left that are not new but rather remasters and next-gen upgrades.
Playstation showcase 2021 game list was full of new games but 4 of them were not new to the gamers.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, GTA 5 and GTA Online, Alan Wake Remastered, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves were the games that received a next-gen upgrade and will be available for gamers to play these nostalgic (except GTA) games on their new consoles and PCs.
Gamers did not want a GTA 5 upgrade but a GTA 6 trailer, but they got the short end of the stick as Sony had other plans on its mind, and yet again left the gamers hoping to see a GTA 6 reveal trailer someday.
On the contrary, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and its spin-off game, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, will receive a well-deserved upgrade and be presented as a bundle called Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves. While the video and PlayStation Blog article provided little specifics, we should expect graphics improvements and better gameplay on newer systems.
The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves compilation will be released for PS5 and PC in early 2022.
Alan Wake Remastered and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake were also introduced in the event and received a positive reaction from the gamers and fans.
For the last part of the PlayStation showcase recap, let us take a look at the exhibition which is set to amaze the Radiohead fans.
Radiohead has joined up with Epic Games for a virtual exhibit centered on the band's upcoming three-volume collection, KID A MNESIA.
The video game creators are developing "an upside-down digital/analog environment constructed from Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood's original artwork and audio design by Nigel Godrich," according to reports.
It celebrates the release of Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac albums. Namethemachine and Arbitrarily Good Productions will direct the virtual exhibit, which will be released in November for PlayStation 5, PC, and Mac.
