Starting at Ponte Preta

Emerson Royal made his professional debut at the Brazilian Serie A on 5 November 2017 in a 2–0 loss at Bahia. He only played three league games during the campaign. His first professional season ended in disappointment as his side suffered relegation.

The following season, Emerson was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2018 season. He became a regular starter for Macaca, making 14 appearances in the 2018 Campeonato Paulista. On 2 April 2018, he scored his first professional goal. It was a long distance screamer that won the Copa do Interior for his childhood club, Ponte Preta.

Later that same month, Emerson signed a five-year deal with Brazil's famous club, Atletico Mineiro, for an approximate fee of RS 5 million.
