The world of football has gone through quite a turmoil in recent days, as twelve of the best teams in Europe declared a short-lived independence from under UEFA’s authority. Champions League 2021 semifinal
stage and are more than prepared to go head to head for a spot in the final itself.

We have four of the most elite clubs in Europe who are willing to sacrifice anything to get their hands on the famous trophy. Of course it is also worth mentioning that three of the clubs in the semis were part of the alliance against UEFA and were planning on creating their own European Super League, believing that the Champions League is not generating enough revenue for them.
Now we will see how much they actually want to get their hands on the UCL as they lock horns in the 2020-21 Champions League semifinal. Follow us below as we provide you with details about the games and a little bit of history about each club’s journey in the UCL this season, so that you can catch up if you have missed any of the games.

Champions League 2021 semifinal
kicks off as Real Madrid hostChelsea
probably at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. While both sides have a chance to go through to the next final itself, there are many factors that could play a hand in both matches between the two sides. Let us start with the Royals of Madrid. The Los Blancos have suffered quite a lot this season, but surprisingly haven’t lost their hopes of winning the La Liga and even the Champions League trophy.
Zinedine Zidane has been truly phenomenal as always, keeping his team in the run for the league title with only a couple of his main squad available. The French manager has lost so many of his regular starters to injury and the list is quite shocking to be honest. He has even been forced to deploy some of the reserves from Real Madrid Castilla, having no other choice to even include three goalkeepers on the squad list for league games.
With Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s chairman, being the mastermind behind the creation of the European Super League, the club will surely be motivated to show their class and strength by going through the
2020/21Champions League semifinal
matches and into the final itself. They managed to beatAtalanta
4-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16, scoring a crucial away goal in Italy before adding another three at home.
Later they went on to faceLiverpool
in the quarterfinals, where many believed that Jurgen Klopp’s men could finally get their revenge. But the hopes were short-lived as the Galacticos won pretty easily with a 3-1 aggregate. Now they will be facing Chelsea in the Champions League 2021 semifinal and the good news is that they have gotten their precious Eden Hazard back, who might get to start against his former team where he became a club legend.
The visitors might get emotional, though, as they will have to face one of their own brilliant former players on the pitch. Few could have guessed that Chelsea could reach the Champions League 2021 semifinal with Frank Lampard. That is why they were surprised after Abramovich, the club’s owner, took matters into his own hands, fired the club icon and replaced him with Thomas Tuchel, who has been surprisingly quite successful at the club since his arrival.
Chelsea too were one of the founding members of the European Super League. But they backed out of the plan after only 24 hours as Roman Abramovich apologized to the club’s supporters. Now they will try their best in the 2020-21 Champions League semifinal to beat literally the most decorated club in the history of the competition. Of course if odds could tell us anything, it would be that Chelsea players could breathe a sigh of relief as they have never lost against Real Madrid in European competitions, drawing once and winning twice.
The Blues and Los Blancos will be meeting each other for the fourth time in history, having met before in the two legs of the 1971 Cup Winners’ Cup final and the 1998 UEFA Super Cup final. Real Madrid don’t like losing any finals as they have been to the competition’s semifinals for thirteen times, winning thirteen trophies in the end. That says something about the Spanish side’s mentality!
Chelsea metAtletico Madrid
in the UCL Round of 16 and while many believed that Atletico Madrid could clutch a victory against the English club, it was Chelsea who managed to beat Real Madrid’s archrivals on both occasions to go through to the quarterfinals of the competition. They went head to head against Porto as there was news that Chelsea players had allegedly celebrated after drawingPorto
in the quarterfinals.
Whatever the truth was, Tuchel’s men managed to go through to the
Champions League 2021 semifinal
with a 2-1 aggregate. Of course they might have conceded the goal of the season as Porto striker Mehdi Taremi put a brilliant bicycle kick into Chelsea’s top corner. But it wasn’t enough to save them from dropping out of the competition after beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in the Round of 16.

While the match between Real Madrid and Chelsea is without a doubt going to be an amazing clash between two of the best teams Europe, many might probably be more eager to watchParis Saint-Germain
take on Manchester City in the
Champions League 2021 semifinal draw
. This one is surely going to be a battle of the giants. Both sides are packed with world-class players and have spent hundreds of millions on bringing in the best of the best from all around the world.
Of course Chelsea too got to spend more than €250 million to sign promising players in the summer, but that is all they have been, only promising players and nothing more. Both Manchester City and PSG have a point to prove and also seek redemption as both have been eyeing the beautiful and weird-eared Champions League trophy for so long. On one side, we have Pep Guardiola, who managed to win the historic sextuple withBarcelona
more than a decade ago, but hasn’t managed to get his hands on the famous trophy for quite a long time since.
On the other hand, we have Mauricio Pochettino, the former Tottenham manager, who is currently in charge at PSG. The Argentinian has a sad story in the UCL as well, as he lost the final to Liverpool not so long ago and is now eyeing another run at the tile with the much stronger Paris Saint-Germain.
It is also worth mentioning that while Pochettino has his own history in the competition, PSG players are doubly determined to reach the final for a second consecutive time as they lost the trophy toBayern Munich
last time around.
The last time the two sides met in the knockout tie of the UCL dates back to the time City eliminated PSG 3-2 on aggregate in the 2015-16 Champions League quarter-final. Kevin de Bruyne managed to snatch a victory for his side the last time they met. Will he be able to pull off another amazing performance and help Guardiola finally reach the final with Manchester City?
The Champions League 2021 semifinal draw is already intense, and the clubs have had to fight hard to reach this stage. Of course the Round of 16 was in fact surprisingly easy for both sides, as Manchester City went head to head against Borussia Monchengladbach and Paris absolutely crushed Barcelona. The Cityzens scored two goals at each game to make it 4-0 on aggregate as they went through to the quarterfinals, where they met Erling Braut Haaland and his teamBorussia Dortmund
Even with haaland playing a crucial role in the German club’s tactics, he was not able to best Guardiola’s brilliance as his team chemistry proved too great for Dortmund. City once again scored two goals at each game, but also conceded once on each occasion to make it 4-2 on aggregate.
Paris Saint-Germain had a similar story in previous stages of the competition, as they met a shaky Barcelona in the Round of 16, where they managed to run a rout against the Catalan giants. PSG wonderkid Kylian Mbappe outshined even Lionel Messi as he scored a beautiful hat-trick in the first leg and showed everyone that the Messi v Ronaldo era has come to its end and might even be long over by now. PSG managed to hold off Barcelona in the second leg and destroy any dreams that the club’s supporters might have had about another Remontada.
The Parisians later faced Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals, the same club who did the impossible by becoming the second team to win the historic sextuple after besting Paris in last season’s UCL final. Kylian Mbappe and co. got to take their revenge this time, however, as the two titans clashed in a thrilling nail-biter that ended in a 3-3 draw on aggregate.
Oddly enough, Bayern won, drew and lost the game in the second leg of the quarterfinals as they beat PSG 1-0, drew on aggregate and lost on away goals. That is because the French side had managed to score three truly vital away goals in the first leg, which helped them reach the semifinals. The
Champions League 2020-21 semifinal line ups
are not yet announced by the respective clubs as they will be meeting this Wednesday.
will be in good hearts after winning the Carabao Cup againstTottenham
which has surely added to their confidence. But PSG are no Tottenham and Guardiola will have to be careful not to repeat his past mistakes by creating revolutionary but complicated formations and tactics to use against the Parisians. He also downplayed winning the trophy by claiming that “It's easier to win at big clubs”, which might have also been a shot at PSG, inviting them for a showdown of the goliaths.
Everything is set and ready to go. The only thing left to talk about in the first leg of the competition is of course the Champions League 2020/21 semifinal live streams. Many in the world of football will be looking for ways to legally watch the Champions League as it is perhaps the current best and biggest competition in the world.

The first leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City was absolutely a must-watch. Both teams had more than enough chances to win the game with a much bigger margin going into the second leg. Neymar and his teammates had almost all the control in the first half as they got to score a rather early goal in the 15th minute of the game thanks to Marquinhos, who rose above everyone else to head the ball into the back of the net from an Angel di Maria corner as Ederson stood watching the strong header and couldn’t react fast enough.
Everything seemed done and dusted as PSG looked set to seal a home victory and look forward to the second leg. But it all changed in a matter of seconds thanks to a horrendous mistake from PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who is known to many for his awful mistakes during important games.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper conceded quite a weird goal in the second half after letting a loose ball from Kevin de Bruyne get into the goal as he only stood watching. The Costa Rican goalkeeper was in fact expecting a first-touch attempt from Manchester City players, but no one touched the ball as it simply strolled past Navas to make it 1-1. Everything got even weirder for the Parisians as Riyad Mahrez’s attempt from a free-kick went straight through the wall and past Keylor Navas to make it 1-2 in City’s favor.
The free-kick was absolutely unreal as the PSG goalkeeper couldn’t believe his eyes, seeing the botched defensive attempt by those in the wall. Having made it 2-1 in an unbelievable fashion, City put the pressure on full and held PSG players at their own half for most of the second half. This caused quite the stir and angered many PSG players, which ld to Idrissa Gana Gueye getting a straight red card for a horrible tackle only six minutes after Riyad Mahrez’s goal.
The funny thing about the Algerian’s goal is that the goal was in no way, shape, or form intentional. Mahrez admitted after the game that he actually wanted to go around the wall, but he missed his shot and the ball went straight towards the wall. He will be more than thankful for his botched attempt, as the wall presented itself to be the biggest threat against their own goal.
Now after a shock defeat at Parc de Princes, Neymar has issued a call-to-arms as he does not want to lose yet another chance of finally winning the Champions League after his departure from Barcelona. The Brazilian has claimed that he would do anything to complete a comeback and win, adding that he is even prepared to “die on the pitch” for the right result.
While such a claim is certainly a far-fetched figure of speech, Neymar seems to be more than motivated to help his team reach the final once again and even break the curse by finally winning the UCL. Manchester City are in good form as they managed to beat Crystal Palace 2-0 last Saturday. Completing a comeback against Pep Guardiola’s side will not be an easy task, but anything can happen in the second leg of the match between the two teams. It mostly depends on who wants to win the cup more and who has the ability to perform at their best once again.

While the clash between Chelsea and Real Madrid was clearly not as mind-blowing and dramatic as the match between PSG and Man City, it still proved to be a thrilling game between two of Europe’s powerhouses. Both Chelsea and Real Madrid had the chance to decide the winner, but failed to make a change in the scoreline as both were held to a 1-1 draw in Spain. Madrid will have to do much more if they want to reach the final once again. Many know the UCL by Madrid, the club who have won the trophy a record 13 times throughout their history.
The Los Blancos will be more than motivated to go through to the final as they are also competing for the league title in one of the closest rivalries ever alongside Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. While Chelsea are not contending for the Premier League title, they do look forward to the FA Cup final against Leicester City. So they would more than like to be in both finals this season. But how did the first leg go for the two teams?
Thomas Tuchel’s side proved to be a little bit more unified than the all-whites wearing Galacticos. This was apparent from the way they attacked and exploited Real Madrid’s three-man defense in the first half, which led to Christian Pulisic scoring an early goal in the 14th minute by easily strolling past Courtois while none of Real Madrid’s defenders seemed to be anywhere around.
Their lead against one of the most decorated clubs in football didn’t last, however, as Karim Benzema equalized with a brilliant overhead kick in the 29th minute to make it 1-1.
Real Madrid will have to find a way to work on their shooting accuracy, as they have been accused of not having a decent accuracy in front of goal more than once by their own fans. The Champions League 2020-21 semifinal line ups are not yet announced, but Zidane might opt to use the same formation that he implemented in their 2-0 win against Osasuna, where he used Eden Hazard as more of a left midfielder and put Vinicius Junior in front of him. The Belgian was also used as an attacking midfielder backed by Casemiro and Antonio Blanco.
One particular question still remains to be asked. Will Thomas Tuchel once again select Timo Werner as his main striker instead of using Olivier Giroud? The German striker is infamous for missing simple and clear chances in front of the goal, which has kicked off a series of mockeries and memes aimed at the 25-year-old.
All questions will be answered this Wednesday as Real Madrid fly off to London to face their rivals in the second leg of the 2020-21 Champions League semifinal. You can catch the game on various online platforms and TV channels, including ESPN2 Sur, ESPN Sur, beIN Sports Premium 1, beIN 4K Arabia, Paramoun+, RMC Sport 1, Sky Ticket, Blue Sport, Sky Sport 1/HD and DAZN. Everything is up for grabs and both teams have the potential to make something memorable happen. Who do you think will go through to the final of the UCL this season?
