Bundesliga predictions: who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021?

A look at the chances of the top teams in the new German football season to see who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021 and which teams will seal the UCL and Europa League qualification.

For many different reasons, the current Bundesliga season is among the most unique ones in the history of Germany's domestic football. Bayern Munich is still the favorite to win what would be their eighth Bundesliga title in a row.  However each season they have a harder task to defend their title as other teams are closing the gap between themselves and the Bavarians.

Another challenge for Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig who participated in last season's

Champions League

is how to keep their form in these latter stages of the season. The 2019-20 season continued until the middle of August 2020. As a result Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig had less time for the usual pre-season preparations and the new Bundesliga season started only a month after the end of last season's European competitions.

The heavy schedule has had its effect on players around the world and the big teams in the top five European leagues have faced injury crisis and dips in form throughout the new season. On the other hand, the usual underdogs have had more rest and preparation in the summer than the usual favorites. So they are more prepared to shock the Bayern and other traditional title contenders.

27 weeks of the new Bundesliga season has passed with Bayern Munich leading the table with 64 points from 27 games. RB Leipzig is at the second place after gathering 57 points and Wolfsburg is at third place, ten points away from the top.

Union Berlin, Bayern Leverkusen Borussia Dortmund, and Monchengladbach have also impressed but they seem to be out of the race when it comes to predicting

who will win the Bundesliga title

in 2021

.

Robert Lewandowsky

has continued his incredible form of last season and is the Bundesliga's top scorer so far this season after scoring an incredible 35 goals in 26 matches. The evergreen Polish striker is followed by Dortmund's wonder kid, Erling Haaland and Frankfurt's Andre Silva who have both scored 21 goals in 26 games.

Trying to answer the big question: who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021?

In the following article we will look into the current form of the top teams of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season to try to guess who will win the 2020/21 Bundesliga? and which teams will qualify for the Champions League and Europa League next season.

Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach is another team which traditionally can be considered as title challengers when it comes to guessing

who will win the 2020/21 Bundesliga

. However, they have not had the best of seasons domestically and are currently at the ninth place with 39 points.

Monchengladbach was one of Bundesliga's best teams last season. They finished at the fourth place and qualified for the Champions League, where they were drawn alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Despite facing strong rivals, Marco Rose's Players has been simply amazing in their first UCL participation in years, putting 10 goals past Shakhtar Donetsk in two games and drawing 2-2 with Inter Milan. They qualified from their group before getting eliminated against Manchester City in the last 16.

Despite their strong performances in the Champions League,

Monchengladbach

have been erratic throughout the season. They won only one of their first four games and started their Bundesliga campaign with a heavy 3-0 away defeat at Dortmund. They bounced back from their bad start and were well in the title race up until week 20, but 5 defeats in their last 7 games have costed them their place among the top five teams of the league.

Gladbach Don’t have any chance when it comes to guessing who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021, but can still qualify for the European leagues as they are 4 points away from Dortmund at fifth. They hope to implement the same spirit they showed at the Champions League and reach higher spots in the table. Our guess is they will finish at the eighth place.

Union Berlin

Union Berlin

has been the surprise of the new Bundesliga season. Urs Fischer players were moderate in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season as they ended their campaign at the 11th place. Nobody expected them to be so good in the first stages of the new season, however they have shown great spirit and are occupying the seventh spot in the table with 39 points from 27 games

Union Berlin has been good both on defense and attack. They have scored 41 goals and have conceded 33 goals. Max Kruse Has been their best player so far with 10 goals scored in 26 games.

Union Berlin started the new Bundesliga season with 3 draws, 1 loss and 1 win in their first 5 matches. Among their best results of the season so far were their 5-0 and 4-0 win against Armenia and Mainz respectively and the 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich. They also won 2-1 against Dortmund. They have been beaten six times this season, the worst of them was a 3-1 defeat against Hertha Berlin and the 5-2 loss against Frankfurt.

Despite their impressive run this season, they cannot be considered title challenger when it comes to predicting

who will win the 2020/21 Bundesliga

. A Europa league qualification is possible if they keep their form in the second part of the season and a Champions League qualification would be one of the most historic achievement in the history of the club. Although it will not be easy as they are 9 points behind Frankfurt at the fourth place. Our guess is they will finish at the seventh place.

Bayern Leverkusen

Bayern Leverkusen

is another team we look at in our article who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021. Leverkusen finished last season at the fifth place and have been keeping their last season's form as they are at the sixth place with 43 points from 27 games. They are trailing Frankfurt by seven points and is aiming to win a place in the next European leagues.

Peter Bosz Players started the new Bundesliga season with three consecutive draws, but found their form after that with a run of 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in their next 10 games. However, they are entering the final stage of their campaign on a bad form. They have tasted defeat three times in the last five games and they have to upgrade themselves if they want to have a chance for climbing the table.

They don’t have a chance when it comes to decide

who will win the 2020/21 Bundesliga

. But a Champions League Qualification would be a big achievement for them. We think they will finish at the sixth place

Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt

had one of their worst ever starts to a Bundesliga campaign with 2 wins, 2 losses and 8 draws in their first 12 games. They were in the danger zone by the end of 2020, but turned the tides in style with an amazing run of 10 wins, 3 draws and only 1 loss in their last 14 games. Their impressive form has put them at the fourth place, four points ahead of Dortmund at fifth.

Frankfurt's best results of the season have been their wins against Bayern Munich (2-1) and Union Berlin (5-2) and Armenia (5-1). They have tasted defeat only three times this season, the worst of them was the 5-1 loss against Bayern Munich in match day 5.With 21 goals, Andre Silva has been their best player this season and is the joint second-best scorer of the league alongside Erling Haaland and behind Robert Lewandowsky who has scored 35 goals.

Mathematically, Frankfurt can still win the title, but in reality they will have a hard job in keeping the last Champions League spot. They still have to play 4 of their direct rivals in their last 8 games. Our guess is they will finish at the fourth place and will play at the Champions League next season.

Borussia Dortmund

The next team in our article on

who will win the Bundesliga title this year

is Borussia Dortmund. The Yellow and Blacks have had a torrid the season in which they suffered from loss of form and had their coach sacked by the end of the year. They are sitting at the fifth place with 43 points from 27 games, trailing Frankfurt by 7 points.

Dortmund started the season well and won six out of their first eight games, but a run of two defeats and a draw in their next three games eventually costed Jordan Favre his job. Dortmund has had moderate success in the league with their new manager, but have been magnificent in the Champions League as they will face Manchester City in the last 8.

Dortmund's best result of the season so far was their 5-2 win against Hertha Berlin. While their worst defeat came at the hands of Stuttgart by five goals to one. As expected, Erling Haaland has been Dortmund's best player this season after scoring 21 goals in 26 matches.

Dortmund

finished as runners-up in the last two seasons. Will you give them a chance when it comes to guessing who w

ill win the Bundesliga title in 2021

? Realistically they can't but they can consider their campaign a success if they reach the Champions League spots. A feat we think they can not accomplish as they just lost to their direct rival, Frankfurt to further the gap to 7 points. they will finish at fifth.

Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg

is the sixth team we analyze in our article on who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021. Last season they finished at the seventh place and missed out on a Europa League spot. This season, they have done a lot better and are at the third place with 54 points from 27 games.

Wolfsburg started the new Bundesliga season in a bad form. Oliver Glasner and his players had five draws and only one win in their first 6 games. However, they soon turned things around with four wins in their next five matches.

Their best game of the season so far was their 5-3 win against Werder Bremen in match day 9. While their first defeat was by two goals to one against defending champions in match day 12. In fact they could draw that game was it not for a childish blunder from their defence which allowed Robert Lewandowsky to score the winner in the injury time.

Wout Weghorst

has been Wolfsburg best player of the season so far with 17 goals scored in 26 matches. He is at fourth in the top goal scorer's behind Robert Lewandowsky (35), Erling Haaland and Andre Silva (21).

Wolfsburg has suffered from lacking clinical edge in the final third. With only 19 goals scored in 12 games, they have the worst stats among the title challengers. We just have to wait and see if they have any chance when it comes to decide who will win the Bundesliga title in 2021. Our guess? They may be a force to reckon with in the Europa League but almost seven decades has passed since their last La Liga title. They will finish the league at fourth.

Leipzig

The next team in our article on who will win the La Liga this year is Julian Naglesmann's spirited

Leipzig

side. Leipzig are fresh from their successful campaign in the 2019-20 season in which they reached the semi-final of the UCL and finished at the fourth place in the league.

Leipzig's rise to the level of Germany and Europe's best team has been miraculous. It was founded in 2009 by energy drink famous brand, Red Bull and in less than ten years after their start they have managed to reach the highest level of club football.

It took Leipzig just 6 years to rise through the divisions and reach Bundesliga. Leipzig's best season in history was the 2019-2020 season, in which they reached the semi-final of the Champions League in only their third appearance in the competition. Their fairy tale ended when they suffered a 3-0 loss to eventual runners-up, Paris Saint Germain.

Leipzig started the new season with four wins out of their first 5 games. Their first defeat came at match day 6 when they lost 1-0 To Gladbach They have gone on a good run since then and are currently at the second place in the table with 57 points from 27 games.

How much of chance Leipzig has in our topic,

who is going to win the Bundesliga title 2020-2021

? We don’t think they have what it takes to win the title this year as they missed out on it with a better squad last season. However, they have enough quality to push Bayern Munich to the edge and continue the title race till the last few games of the season. We think they will eventually finish as the runners-up.

Bayern Munich

The last team in our article on who will win the Bundesliga title this year is last season's winner,

Bayern Munich

. In terms of team spirit and squad quality Hansi Flick's side are still the team to beat in the new season.

Considering their recent success in domestic and international competitions, it is fair to say that Bayern Munich is having one of the best spells of their history. The Bavarians won every possible trophy in the 19-20 season and the most amazing fact about their achievement is that a year ago they were having their worst crisis in recent years.

Bayern started last season with Niko kovac as the coach. A run of bad results left Bayern's manager with no chance but to sack the Croat manager. His replacement, Hansi Flick was supposed to guide the team until they can find another coach but Bayern showed great improvement under the guidance of Flick and his contract went permanent.

Still no one would believe at that point that Bayern would go on to become the best club in the world in less than a year. However, it is exactly what has happened as they won the domestic double as well as the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season.

Bayern started the new season in a good form. However, fatigue from last season's unusual calendar and the departure of some of their best players like Thiago Alcantara have affected their performances and they have already suffered three defeats this season.

Bayern is currently at the top of the table with 64 points from 27 games. Leipzig is trailing them by only 7 points and any slips in their last 8 games could endanger their dream of an eighth title in a row.

Bayern's best result of the season so far was their 8-0 win against Schalke in match day one, while their worst result was their 4-1 defeat against Hoffenheim on match day 2.

Bayern's main goal scorer, Robert Lewandowsky is having the best form of his career. He recently won FIFA's the best player of the season award. He was the top scorer in the Champions League and

Bundesliga

Last season

The Polish striker has been more than amazing this season as well and is at the top of the goal scoring table with an incredible tally of 35 goals in 27 matches. However, He will be out for a month after sustaining an injury in Poland's game against Andorra. His absence could cost Bayern a lot, but we think the Bavarian still has enough quality to overcome the challenge of his absence. As for the question of who will win the premier league this year after all? We think it's going to Bayern Munich again.

So here it was! Our article who

will win the Bundesliga title in 2020-2021
