Style of Play

Busquets is a tireless player with a very good sense of play. Very calm, he thinks and turns around a lot before passing the ball and his passes are rarely missed. He has a very good technique which enables him to get out of difficult situations. Together with Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez, he formed a "magic" trio in the middle of FC Barcelona as well as in the Spanish national team. His great height compared to his two fellow teammates was a plus in the aerial battles.

Busquets was playing so good that everyone forgot about Yaya Toure, who left Barcelona, considered to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Busquets has said that his weak points are his shooting as well as his ability to play long balls.

He usually acts as a hinge between defence and midfield; he can also sometimes play in attack, taking advantage of his height. Thanks to his excellent ball control skills as well as a great sense of play, Sergio Busquets is widely regarded to be one of the best defensive midfielders to ever play football.
