story is quite interesting. His father, Wayne Chilwell is from New Zealand and he was a big inspiration for Ben to do the hard work and be serious in what he does. He decided to come to England three years before Ben was born.

So the great legacy that he has now is mostly because of his father’s sacrifices. “My father always pushed me when I was younger in terms of working hard and practicing, so that was instilled into me and I owe him a lot. Everything in fact,” Ben said bout his father.

“My dad would drive me all the way up here and I remember every Thursday getting back in the car and my dad would turn to me and say: ‘Are you in the squad this week?’ ‘Nope’. And we would argue the whole way home.”

Nobody in Ben’s family played football and Ben himself was the first person who introduced football to the family and played it professionally. “It was only when I started playing that my parents took an interest in the game and now they love it,” he said about his parents.

“When my father came over to England 26 years ago, he was into rugby and he admits he didn’t really know anything about football. It was only really when I started playing that he took an interest and now he loves it,” he added.

The first time that he played with an actual ball was in their back yard with his father. His father helped him to get really good in the game and taught him how to control the ball with his both right and lest feet. “he used to get me to try and hit the crossbar with my left and my weaker right foot.” Ben told a reporter about the practices with his father.

After a few months and hard practice, Ben’s father decided to introduce him to the Milton Keynes’ local team, Woburn Academy. “I still remember my first game. It was against Willen, which was another team from Milton Keynes, and I think we ended up winning that game 15-0 or 16-0.

There were a few of us from that team who played together from when we were 6 or 7, four of us went on to be scholars, two at Leicester and two at Mk Dons.” He said about his experience at the Woburn.

After great performances at the Woburn Academy, he joined another local club which was more famous and bigger. The team name was Bletchley Youth football academy in which he became a leader of the team and won a lot of local competitions and that was the first step of Ben’s fame.

An interesting

fact about Ben Chilwell

is that he spent most of his childhood playing rugby or cricket. However, after playing football with his father he decided to change from rugby and cricket to football. “I was probably better at cricket than I was at football.

I wasn’t really enjoying cricket as much. They were long days and often with people who weren’t really my friends. That time while I probably wasn’t as good at football, I just decided to give football one shot.” He said.
