Memphis Depay Quotes
One of the most amusing parts of
SportMob's article on
top facts about Memphis Depay
is a look back at his most interesting and controversial quotes about himself and other players.
Describing his playing style:
I take risks sometimes, and it's not the best choice. I have to take that kind of risk to become one of the best players in the world. If that's what I want to be, I cannot just play simple.
My quality on the ball will improve the more minutes I get in my legs because it works like that.
Sometimes I play as simply as possible, in one or two touches. But I also make bad decisions, I make mistakes, and I try too-complicated things.
On his topsy-turvy relationship with Jose Mourinho:
Mourinho is a great coach. He has told me he believes in me, both in person but also publicly
I have no bitterness towards Mourinho. I did what I had to do in training. Of course, I didn't understand his choices, but he was the boss. I had to accept those choices.
On Ronaldo's free kick technique and his own style:
Let's be honest: doesn't everyone look at
Ronaldo's free kicks? I've looked at a lot of his technique, but I do it in my own way. I have my own style and try not to do the same.
Everybody watches free-kicks, and when you watch them, you enjoy them. You have got to learn how to shoot and connect with the ball and how to move your leg. For everybody, it is different, but if you want to score lots of goals, then free kicks is an extra way to do that.
