Robertson moved to Queen’s Park’s youth academy in 2009. At the beginning of the 2012-13 season, Andy progressed to the Queen’s Park first team. He played 43 matches for Queen’s Park that season, 34 out of them were in the Scottish third division.

In June 2013, Robertson signed for the top flight club, Dundee United. According the deal, Queen’s Park was involved in Robertson’s future transfers. It did not take a long time for Andrew to become part of his manager’s plans, as he made his debut for Dundee United on the opening day of the season. In September 2013, Robertson scored his first goal for Dundee United. For both September and November that year, he was voted SPFL young player of the month.

After a short period of time, Robertson agreed a new contract with Dundee United, until May 2016. In April 2014, Robertson won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and was also named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the 2013–14 Scottish Premiership.

Despite having contract until 2016, Dundee United accepted a 2.85 million-pound offer from Hull City for Andrew Robertson in July 2014. So that, Robertson signed a three-year contract with the Premier League side Hull City. As a newly-joined player, Andy Robertson made his debut on the opening day of the season, and surprisingly won the club's Player of the Month award for August 2014, his only first month at the club. Bad news was that Hull City were relegated to the Championship at the end of Robertson’s first season in charge.
