Takefusa is the only child of his parents. So it is understandable why his parents did everything in their power to give their child the best possible future in football. When Take was 8 years old, his father arranged for him a trial test at Barcelona's academy branch in Japan. Take passed the trial with flying colors. According to Take, his father has been his main source of inspiration and a true guide in his footballing journey.

"Yes, we played together, also with Eric [Garcia] and others. I gave him passes and he scored."

"I

t is very good that a youth player is playing in the first team, either Ansu or [Carles] Alena. It's very good for the club, isn't it?

"(From Kubo's interview with Marca)

Takefusa Kubo amateur career continued perfectly as he rose through the La Masia ranks until he was 14. His best season was the 2012-13 season in which he scored an unbelievable 74 goals in 30 games. However, in his third season at La Masia, the club was founded guilty of violating rules regarding youth recruitment and Kubo was forced to leave

Spain

and go back to Japan, a decision which was hard to digest for the teenager.

"For a 13-year-old boy it is very hard as you want to play football and you don't know why they've kicked you out of the country. In fact, I still don't know why it happened. If a child wants to play football at a good club, I don't see the reason why he can't do it - why not let him?"
