Mason Mount Childhood story

At this part of the article we will look at the top facts about

Mason Mount Childhood

story and the family and the background he grew up in. Mason Mount was born into a rich family. His parents were both football fans and they were diehard supporters of Portsmouth, the biggest team of the city they were living in at the time.

Mason was the second child of the family. He has an older sister who is married and lives in Australia with her husband.

Mason had the chance of seeing some of the most memorable games of Portsmouth's history from the stands. Mason recalled two of his best memories in an interview with

Chelsea

's website years later:

"I went to both the semi-final and the final in 2008 with my dad and it was just brilliant to see

Portsmouth

actually lift the trophy."

"It felt like the whole city was there at Wembley because it was a massive game for the club. I also went to the 2010 final against Chelsea two years later and I remember thinking how big the stadium was – it still feels like that for me now so you can imagine what it felt like at the age of nine!"

Mason Mount's father had the most influence on his son's football career. He was the one who enrolled him into one of the town's best football academies, Baorhunt FC at the age of four. He has supported Mason from his early days up until now and Mason is forever grateful to him for his encouragement, as he said in an interview with the Guardian:

“I always speak to my dad before a season starts and we set goals and one of those was 10 goals. Dad’s very hard on me and is my biggest critic, so 10 is always going to be the target. He has said that my whole life. If you are averaging 10 goals as a midfielder you are having a good season.”

After impressing with his first academy, Mason passed the trial of Chelsea's famous academy at the age of 6. At the time his father was against him joining Chelsea because he knew that Jon Terry was the only graduate of the academy who later became a first team member.

Surprisingly, when he told his son about the fact, the 6-years old Mason confidently said that he would be the second player after Terry to graduate to Chelsea's first team.

Mason continued to impress at the academy and won many important trophies including three FA Youth Cups and one Uefa Youth League title. He became friends with Jon Terry and David Luiz and in the meantime studied at a high school which was close to Chelsea's academy.

In 2017 Mason was loaned to

Vitesse

and later Derby County aiming to have more playing time and his professional career started right there.

“A free-kick is a very tough technique and it’s something I’ve always worked on. Watching David Beckham and Ronaldo scoring all these free-kicks, I was in awe. I’ve worked on it for a very long time. It doesn’t always come off. It’s a very difficult technique, but when they do it feels brilliant.” (From Mount's interview with the Guardian)
