Ruud Geels

With 94 goals, Geertruida ("Ruud") Maria Geels is the first footballer in this list and claims 10th place among the All-time top goal scorers in Ajax history.He played as a Second striker or Attacking midfielder for various clubs, mostly Dutch clubs. He also had spells in English and Belgian teams, Club Brugge and Anderlecht.

Born on 28 July 1948 in Haarlem, Netherlands, he started playing football with a youth team, RKVV DSS. Later on, he started his professional career with Telstar. Then he had some spells in Feijenoord, Go Ahead Eagles

and Club Brugge and, eventually, he joined The Lancers in 1974.He only played 4 seasons on Ajax's side but, became the Eredivisie Top Scorer in each season he played in Ajax's shirt and the fact that he managed to place himself among the Ajax top scorers of all time within only 4 years, tells how good he was.

It's worth mentioning that he became the Eredivisie Top Scorer again when he was at Sparta. In the 1975–76 season, Geels became the UEFA Cup Top Scorer as well.Finally in 1978, after 150 appearances with THe Sons of THe Gods and winning one Eredivisie title, he left the club and joined Anderlecht.

Stefan Pettersson

The 9th place in the list of Ajax top scorers of all time belongs to former Swedish striker Stefan Bengt Pettersson. He played 6 seasons with THe Sons of the Gods and netted a total of 100 times for them.He helped Ajay to win two Eredivisie titles, one Dutch cup, and a UFEA Cup.

Born on 22 March 1963 in Västerås, Sweden, he got trained and started his senior career with his local club, IFK Västerås in 1980. Then from 1982 till 1988, he had spells with two other Swedish clubs, IFK Norrköping and IFK Göteborg before he joined The Lancers.

Pettersson helped the club in several different situations like as an example, he scored in the 1992 UEFA final from the penalty spot. After 6 years with Ajax, he left the team and returned to IFK Göteborg in 1994.Most of his goals for Ajax were scored in Eredivisie. Pettersson netted 77 goals in 150 Dutch top tier league matches. Other than that, he scored 14 goals in UEFA Cup, and 8 goals in other competitions and claim his place among the Highest goal scorers in Ajax of all time.

He retired in 1998 after 84 appearances on IFK Göteborg's side. This year, he will turn 58.

Sjaak Swart

Former Ajax player Jesaia Swart, generally known as Sjaak Swart, has the record of most appearances for Ajax. He played as a winger and stayed with The Lancers during his whole career.Throughout his spell in Ajax, he made a total of almost 600 appearances more than 450 of which were in Eredivisie. He also scored 101 goals within his playing period which place him as the eight individual in the list of Ajax top scorers of all time.

Born on 3 July 1938 in Muiderberg, Netherlands, he was born in a Jewish family. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, he and his father hid from the Germans and concealed themselves as non-Jews to avoid danger. Sjaak started his youth career with a team named OVVO, then he moved to a youth club named Amsterdam, and finally, he joined the Ajax youth academy. His first-team debut came on the 1956–57 season. The Dutch footballer proceeds to play five more matches that season.

Sjaak managed to play 17 seasons with the Sons of the Gods, playing an important role in the club's success. He was part of the squad that achieved three consecutive European Cup victories in 1971, 1972, and 1973. He also won Eredivisie seven, and KNVB Cup five times with them. It's worth mentioning that he was nicknamed Mr. Ajax for his large amount of appearances.

John Bosman

Johannes "John" Jacobus Bosman spend most of his career with Dutch clubs. The clubs that he played with are Ajax, Mechelen, PSV, Anderlecht, Twente, and AZ.

As you can see, he actually started his career with Ajax. Born on1 February 1965 in Bovenkerk, Netherlands he joined The Lancers in 1983 after he spent his youth career with Roda '23 and RKAVIC.Bosman made his league debut on 20 November against Roda JC where he scored his first goal for the club.Since then, he has played 165 matches in Ajax's jersey, scoring 106 goals within those matches which place him among the Ajax top goal scorers ever. He also was announced as the 1986–87 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup top scorer, a competition which Ajax won.

In total, he played 425 matches in his career and netted 210 times most of which were in Eredivisie. To be exact, he scored 147 goals in the Netherlands' top tier league.He also netted 35 times in TOTO KNVB Beker,12 times in Cup Winners' Cup,4 times in the Champions League,4 times in the European Cup, and 8 times in other competitions.After playing 3 years for AZ, he retired in 2002. Later on, he returned to Ajax as a striker coach.

Luis Suarez

Everybody knows who he is! This Uruguayan footballer is among the best players of his generation, he won several league titles with his clubs, and last but not least, he is one of the Ajax top scorers of all time.Nicknamed 'The Gunman,' he is good at both scoring and creating chances. He is also has been praised for his technical ability especially, nutmegging his opponents.

Suarez has played in four different leagues and was announced as the leading top scorer of the season in almost all of them. He has received an Eredivisie Golden Boot, a Premier League Golden Boot, the Pichichi Trophy, and two European Golden Shoes.The Uruguayan striker played for The Lancers from 2007 till 2011 after he left Groningen with 29 appearances. During his spell, he won One Eredivisie and KNVB Cup titles.

Generally, he has scored 423 goals in 655 matches he played in his career. In his Ajax stint, he netted 111 times and, this makes him the sixth individual in the Top scorers in Ajax of all time list. Speaking of goal-scoring, Suarez is the leading top scorer in his national team as well.

After four seasons with The Sons of the Gods, he left the team and joined Liverpool on a £22.8 million transfer fee.

Dennis Bergkamp

Dennis Bergkamp is the only Dutchman ever to be inducted into the FIFA Hall of Fame. He has generally been considered as one of the greatest of his generation and for sure this phenomenal footballer is among Ajax highest goal scorers ever.

He spent most of his professional career with Arsenal. He played there for 11 years and was originally a midfielder, then he moved to the main striker and then to the second striker. He won three Premier Leagues and FA Cups with them. But before that, he was a part of his hometown club Ajax for seven seasons. It's worth mentioning that he also had a two-year spell in Inter Milan before he joined The Gunners.

Wildly known as the "non-flying Dutchman" due to his fear of flying, His skills were interesting to watch and he was very influential in the world of football as well. His versatility was high because he was schooled in Total Football which was brought up by that time's head coach, Johan Cruyff. Besides this, Bergkamp was creative, and intelligent, talented and with 118 goals Within 237 appearances with the Sons of the Gods, we can state the fifth place among the Ajax highest goal scorers of ever deservedly belongs to this footballer. Jari Litmanen

In the continuation of the Ajax top scorers of all time list, we have the former Finnish Attacking midfielder Jari Olavi Litmanen. He is regarded as one of Finland's greatest football players of all time and was chosen as the best Finnish player of the last 50 years by the Football Association of Finland.

Litmanen played for numerous clubs such as Barcelona, Liverpool, and Malmö FF but, his prime was in the mid-90s when he was playing for Ajax. He actually had two stints with the Sons of the Gods. One from 1992 to 1999, and one from 2002–2004 although, his first spell was far better than his second one.

He started his professional career with a Finnish team Reipas, then he had some spells in HJK and MyPa, and eventually, he got signed to Ajax in 1992. At first, he mostly played for the reserves but after Dennis Bergkamp's injury, he got his way to the first team and began his journey to be among the Best Ajax Players of all Time. In his second season, he became the league's top scorer with 26 goals. Unfortunately, the rest of Litmanen's career wasn't as good as it used to be due to injuries. Nevertheless, he scored 133 goals in his total periods with Ajax, and placed himself as the fourth individual among the All-time top goal scorers in Ajax history.

Van Basten

The 1992 FIFA World Player of the Year Marco van Basten is considered as one of the greats in world football, he won three Ballon d'Ors two of which was consecutive in 1988, 1989.His height, strength, powerful volleys, headers so many other things made him one of the bests, and generally, a legendary player.

He only played for two clubs; Ajax and A.C.Milan and, although he played more seasons in A.C Milan and became a legend there, we can't deny that he was also an amazing player in Ajax.He scored 152 goals in his 133 match appearances with Sons of the Gods, claiming the third place among the Ajax top scorers of all time.Van Basten actually became the Eredivisie's top scorer for four consecutive seasons and won the European Golden Boot in the 1988–89 season.

But let's go back a little. Born on 31 October 1964 in Utrecht, Netherlands, he began playing for a local team, EDO, when he was 6 years old. Then he spent nine years at UVV Utrecht and a year at Elinkwijk.Eventually, he joined The Lancers as a 16-year-old in 1981. Two seasons later, he became a part of the first team and established himself as the club's main attacker.During his spell, he helped The Sons of the Gods to win three Eredivisie and KNVB Cups and achieved one UEFA Cup Winners Cup. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire at the age of 28 due to injuries.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Ajax's current striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has scored 153 goals within his two spells with The Sons of the Gods and claimed his place among the Ajax top scorers of all time.He was named Ajax "Player of the Year" in 2006 and also was announced as the Dutch Football Talent of the Year. Till now, he has won one Eredivisie and three KNVB Cup titles with Ajax.

Huntelaar has played with other teams as well. He has spells with clubs including PSV, De Graafschap, AGOVV Apeldoorn, Heerenveen, Real Madrid, and Milan.It's worth mentioning that he has had two stints in Ajax. One from 2006 till 2009 and one from 2017 till now. With his 105 goals in the first stint and 48 goals in his second stint, he is the second individual in the Top scorers in Ajax of all time list.Speaking of being amongst the top scorers, Huntelaar is also Schalke's second-highest goalscorer ever with 126 goals. In total, he has netted 360 times in 651 matches he played in his all-time career.

As a prolific striker, he has been described to have a "brilliant first touch" and, his playing style has often compared to players like Van Basten.So far in the new season of Eredivisie, he has seven games and scored two goals.

Johan Cruyff

With 163 goals, the first individual in the list of Ajax top scorers of all time is the Dutch former footballer and manager, Hendrik Johannes Cruijff. He is a three-time Ballon d'Or winner, was voted European Player of the Century in an election held by and is regarded as one of the best footballers in history.

His philosophy in playing and managing influence many generations and several teams have used his methods. Cruyff became synonymous with the playing style of "Total Football," a system that players had to understand the whole geometry of the whole pitch and have the ability to play anywhere.

Born on 25 April 1947, he joined the Ajax youth team when he was 15. His first-team debut for Ajax came on 15 November 1964 in an Eredivisie match against GVAV, where he scored the only goal for Ajax. He went on to play 8 more years in his first stint with the Sons of the Gods, winning eight Eredivisie titles, three European Cups, and more.

He then left Ajax and joined Barcelona for a world-record transfer fee, went to the USA for a few seasons, went again to Laliga and joined Levante, and returned to Ajax in 1981. His 3-year second stint was not as legendary as his first and things went bad between Ajax and Cruyff when Ajax refused to offer Cruyff a new contract and he joined the clubs' rivals Feyenoord and retired there.Nevertheless, 163 out of his 204 all-time career goals were scored in Ajax and he became the top individual among the Ajax highest goal scorers of all time.

He passed away on 24 March 2016 and in 2017, the Amsterdam Arena was renamed to Johan Cruyff Arena.
