In 1990,
Monacosent scout Arnold Catalano to watch the 13-year-old Henry in a match. Thierry Henry scored all his side's six goals in a 6–0 win. Catalano asked him to join Monaco without the need to attend a trial first. He also requested Henry to complete a course at the elite INF Clairefontaine academy. Despite the director's reluctance to admit Henry due to his low school results, Thierry was allowed to complete the course and finally joined Arsène Wenger's Monaco as a youth player. Afterward, Henry signed professional forms with Monaco and made his professional debut on 31 August 1994.
