Thierry Henry career stats

, one of the significant facts about him, on our list of facts about Thierry Henry.

In 1990,

Monaco

sent scout Arnold Catalano to watch the 13-year-old Henry in a match. Thierry Henry scored all his side's six goals in a 6–0 win. Catalano asked him to join Monaco without the need to attend a trial first. He also requested Henry to complete a course at the elite INF Clairefontaine academy. Despite the director's reluctance to admit Henry due to his low school results, Thierry was allowed to complete the course and finally joined Arsène Wenger's Monaco as a youth player. Afterward, Henry signed professional forms with Monaco and made his professional debut on 31 August 1994.

Henry was named the French Young Footballer of the Year in 1996, and in the 1996–97 season, his performances helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title. Throughout the 1997–98 season, he led his club to the UEFA Champions League semi-final. In that season, Henry scored seven goals in the UEFA Champions League, which was a record for French players. By his third season, he had received his first cap for the national team and was part of the winning team in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He continued to impress during his Monaco stint, and in his five seasons with the French club, scored 20 league goals in 105 appearances.

Henry left Monaco for Turin in January 1999, but an unproductive experience with

Juventus

caused him an early move to Arsenal, just in August 1999. Arsenal paid an estimated fee of 11 million pounds to bring Arsene Wenger and Thierry Henry together again. Ultimately, London was the city where Titi Henry grew and shined as a world-class football player. He couldn't score in his first eight matches for Arsenal, but he finished the first season at Highbury with 26 goals and reacted well to all negative vibes.

In UEFA Euro 2000, Henry won another trophy with his national team. In the following season, he was named as Arsenal's top scorer for the first time. Success finally arrived during the 2001–02 season as Arsenal won the Premier League and FA Cup titles. Henry became the league's top goalscorer and netted 32 goals in all competitions. The Premier League title repeated for Arsenal and Henry two years later in a memorial form. They became the first team in more than a century to go through the entire domestic league season unbeaten, claiming the league title in the process.

Apart from being named for the second year running as the PFA Players' Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year, Henry appeared again as the runner-up for the 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award, as the second year in a row. He also stood at the top of the league's goal-scoring table and won the European golden boot. Next year, he was the co-recipient of the European Golden Boot, becoming the first player to officially win the award twice in a row.

The last remarkable season at Arsenal for Thierry Henry was 2005-06, which included becoming the club's top goalscorer of all time and also a reach to the UEFA Champions League final match. The final part of this season for Henry was the 2006 World Cup final, which finished undesirably in penalties against Italy.

Henry moved to

Barcelona

in 2007 for 24 million Pounds. He spent three seasons there, while his most important achievement was the 2008-09 treble, including Henry's first UEFA Champions League trophy. Later in 2009, Henry helped Barcelona win an unprecedented sextuple, consisting of the aforementioned treble, the Supercopa de España, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. The attacking trio of Henry,

Messi

, and Eto'o was the most prolific in Spanish league history, scoring 72 goals and surpassing the 66 goals of

Real Madrid

's Ferenc Puskás, Alfredo Di Stéfano and Luis del Sol of the 1960–61 season.

In 2010, Henry joined the MLS side New York Red Bulls and stayed in the U.S. until 2014. In this period, Henry also made a 2-month loan move to his beloved club, Arsenal. He scored another two goals for Gunners and concluded his club record with 228 goals.

I wasn't meant to score; I scored. It was emotional. It wasn't about technique or the score. It was what it meant to me.
