A Brief Review of History and Honors of Everton

Best Everton Defenders of all time

Everton began their career in 1887 under the name St Domingo FC and as a result of this establishment, the members of the group of St Domingo Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Breckfield Road North, Everton could play football year-round.

Their first match was as a 1-0 win against Everton Church Club. With the passage of time and more success of the club, soon the local people demand membership, and as a result, in November 1879, the name of the team was changed to Everton.

The club was one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888, and two seasons later won its first league title. After winning four league titles and two FA Cups, with the outbreak of World War II and its aftermath, the club went through a period of stagnation until the 1960s; the era of Everton success began again in the mid-1980s.

Since 1892, Everton has played its home games at Goodison Park Stadium; the move came after the club became enmeshed in a bitter dispute over the rent of Anfield Stadium with the stadium owner. Everton has a long and fierce rivalry with Liverpool; whose home stadium at Anfield is just under one mile away from Everton's home. The contest between these two teams is called the Merseyside derby.
