Leipzig best season was in 2019-2020 in which they ended among the top four teams of Bundesliga and reached the semi-final of the Champions League in only their third appearance in the competition. Although they could not finish off the fairy tale and after eliminating the likes of Atletico Madrid, suffered a 3-0 loss to eventual runners-up, Paris Saint Germain.
In truth Leipzig would certainly not come this far was it not for the incredibly talented Midfielders they have had in their squad. One of the Best ever RB Leipzig Midfielders, Henrik Ernst started his career at Hannover 96 in 2008 before joining Leipzig three years later. In total he spent 7 seasons at Leipzig and was instrumental in their rise from lower divisions to Bundesliga.
At 2015, Henrik Ernst went to play for Leipzig second team for a further three seasons. He played 54 games during his time at Leipzig 2 and scored 1 goals. Ernst joined Hannover 96 again after leaving Leipzig but only played 5 games before retiring in 2018.

Although Joshua Kimmich has had the best years of his career at Bayern Munchen, it was in Leipzig that he caught the eyes of Europe's giant clubs.
Kimmich joined his first club, Leipzig in 2013 and stayed for two seasons. He played 53 games for the club and scored three goals. This was before Leipzig reached Bundesliga.

Laimer's importance for Leipzig has grown each year. In his first season, Laimar played 29 goals and failed to score any goals. His second and third season was fruitful as he played 43 and 41 games respectively.
In total Leimar has played 113 games for Leipzig across all competitions, scoring 6 goals in those games. The central midfielder has played for every youth level of Austria National team, starting at U-16 in 2012 till he reached the senior team in 2017.
Stefan Ilsanker is the son of Herbert Ilsanker, the goalkeeper coach of Red Bull Salzburg, but he was able to come out of his father shadows and become one of the Greatest RB Leipzig Midfielders of all time.
Like many other great midfielders in Leipzig's short history, Ilsanker started his career at RB Salzburg. Under the influence of his father, Stefan first chose goalkeeper as his position, but opted to move to the midfielder line when he turned Professional.

In Leipzig's historic 2019-20 season in which the team reached UCL semi-final, Ilsanker was sidelined for the majority of games due to injury. He played only 7 games and at the winter transfer window he decided to join Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has played 18 games and has scored 2 goals so far.
In total, Stefan Ilsanker played 131 games for RB Leipzig across all competitions. He is the third midfielder with most appearances in the history of Leipzig, Ilsanker has also been a regular starter for Austria national team since 2014 and has played 42 games ever since his debut.

The only Slovenian player in the list of the Best RB Leipzig Midfielders ever, Kevin Kampl began his career in 2009 with Bayer Leverkusen and after short spells at Osnabruck, Aalen, RB Salzburg and Dortmund joined Leipzig in 2017.
Kampl was amazing in his first two seasons at Leipzig, playing 37 and 40 games respectively. His last two seasons has been hard for the 29 years-old midfielder as he has played only 18 games, registering 2 goals to his name in those games.
In total Kevin Kampl Has played 95 games for Leipzig across all competitions and has scored 6 goals so far. He was eligible to play for Germany National team. But opted to play for Slovenia.
He made his international debut in 2012 and has scored 2 goals in his 28 games for his homeland. His most important goal for Slovenia national team was in a 1-0 win against Albania in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification.

One of the two Best RB Leipzig Midfielders of all time, Dominik Kaiser was a promising tennis player until he was 17 years old, but decided to quit tennis to pursue his dream to be a footballer. He started his football career in 2009 and joined Leipzig in 2012, after three years with Hoffenheim.
Kaiser made his debut for Leipzig in the opening game of the 2012-13 Bundesliga season, in a 1–1 draw against Union Berlin. His first goal for the club came on September of 2012, in a 3–0 win over Germania Halberstadt. Kaiser quickly established himself in the starting eleven for the side, playing in the defensive midfield.
Kaiser played for six seasons with Leipzig. His best season was the 2013-14 season in which he scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in 37 games. This was when Leipzig were playing in 3. Liga.
Kaiser kept his place in the starting line-up all the way to 2018, when he left Leipzig for Brondby. In total he scored 34 goals and provided 35 assists in his 167 games for Leipzig across all competitions.
He is the second Midfielder behind Demme with the most appearances in the history of Leipzig. On May 2018, Kaiser was awarded a testimonial match by RB Leipzig, in honor of him being their longest-serving player after spending six years with the club. The last player in the list of All-time Best Midfielders at RB Leipzig, Diego Demme started his career by joining 2. Bundesliga club, SC Paderborn in January 2012. After a two year spell with Paderborn, Demme joined Leipzig in 2014 and went on to become joint third player with the highest number of appearances for the club.
Demme made his Leipzig debut as a started in a 1–0 loss against Wacker Burghausen in January 2014. In the next match, a 2–1 loss against Duisburg Demme set up Leipzig's only goal for Daniel Frahn, since making his debut for the club, Demme quickly established himself in the first team towards the end of the season.
Demme's best season individually was the 2017-18 season in which he played 41 games for the club. While on the collective terms, his best season was the 2018-19 season in which he was one of Leipzig's captains on the road to the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Demme left Leipzig at the end of last season to join the Italian side, Napoli. In his last season at Leipzig, the 28 years old played 24 goals and scored his second and last goal for the club, in a 2-0 win against Zenit in UCL's group stage. Internationally he was first called up to the Germany national team in 2017, in a friendly against Denmark on 6 June 2017.

Sebastian Heidinger. Came to Leipzig in 2011 and stayed for four years. He played both as a right back and a right midfielder. Heidinger scored 9 goals in 91 appearances for Leipzig.
Bastian Schulz. Signed with RB Leipzig in 2011 when the team were playing the regional leagues. He stayed with the club until they were promoted from Liga 3. In total Schulz played 64 games for Leipzig, scoring 11 goals.
Thiago Rockenbach. Joined Leipzig from Fortuna Düsseldorf and went on to play 84 games for the club in his three season spell with them. The Brazilian midfielder scored 14 goals and provided an impressive 30 assists as well.
