Foundation history of Crystal Palace

Crystal palace club was officially founded in 1905, but they claim that the club's first football team was the original Crystal Palace amateur football team, first founded in 1861. If we accept this claim correctly, Crystal Palace is the oldest professional football club in the world!

This amateur club was a founding member of the Football Association of England in 1863 and advanced to the semi-finals in the first round of the FA Cup in 1871–72, but was temporarily inactive after the 1875–1875 Cup.

Crystal Palace returned to football in 1905 and joined the Football League in 1920.

Since 1964, they have only been relegated once for three seasons, from 1974 to 1977, but have since returned to the Premier League.

The club was relegated from the Premier League once again in 1998 and then suffered several financial problems, but they were able to solve these problems and return to the competition with all their might, so that in the 2016 FA Cup, they reached the final and finished second after losing to Manchester United.

The colors of the club's uniform were claret and blue until 1973, but since then they have worn shirts with red and blue vertical stripes.

Crystal Palace has a long and fierce rivalry with Brighton. The competition between these teams is known as the M23 Derby.
