Liverpool is an English club which plays in the English Premier League.The club was founded on the 3rd of June,1892, and has been active ever since.Liverpool has won nineteen League titles, a record eight League Cups, seven FA Cups, six European Cups, more than any other English club, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
In the last Premier League season, Liverpool broke the 20-year curse and won its first league title, it was the club's first of the Premier League era. Their latest match in the 2020/2021 Premier League season was against Lincoln City which they won 2-7.Today we want to review some footballers who are believed to be the All-time Best Defenders at Liverpool.

One of the Best ever Liverpool Defenders who played as a right-back. Stephen Nicol joined The Reds in 1981 at the age of 20. He was born on 11 December 1961 in Troon, Scotland.Nicol spent 14 years playing for Liverpool.through those years, he won five Football League First Division titles, three FA Cup winners medals, and the 1984 European Cup.
Nicol was a very gifted footballer and that’s why he is one of the Best Liverpool Defenders of all time. He was excellent in defense as well as in attack. even In his first full season, he came second in PFA's vote for the most promising player of the year in 1983-84.
He made his debut for Reds on 31 August 1982 in a league match with Birmingham City at St Andrew's. The match ended up in a 0-0 draw. That year he made three league appearances which were not enough to collect a title winner's medal when The Reds finished as league champions that season.
Generally, he appeared on The Reds side for a total of 468 times and scored 46 goals during those matches..He moved on to Notts County in 1994 and stayed there for 2 years. After 22 years of playing, he retired in 2001.
Mark Thomas Lawrenson is a former Irish international footballer who played for Liverpool as a central defender. He was born on 2 June 1957. He was in his mid 20's when he played for The Reds.
He joined the club in 1981 when he was offered a club transfer record of £900,000. He formed an impressive central defensive partnership with Alan Hansen and was often used as a left-back.For nearly a decade, Lawrenson guarded the heart of the Reds' defense and won five league titles with them.
He possessed great speed and skill .also his abilities in tackling and strength were brilliant. That's why he is among the Best Liverpool Defenders ever.
During his 7 years in Liverpool, He made 356 appearances and scored 18 goals. He then moved on to Barnet 1988 and retired a year after. He is 63 this year.And let's not forget that he has a successful career as a football pundit on the BBC.
John Arne Riise
John Arne Semundseth Riise is a former Norwegian footballer who played for Liverpool as a Left-back. He also played in The Reds shirt for 7 years.He joined Liverpool in 2001 and made his debut for Liverpool on the 2001 UEFA Super Cup game against Bayern Munich which he scored the first goal of the match.
He also played an important role in the 2005 Champions League when he provided the assist for Liverpool's first goal of the final. That match was one of the greatest comebacks of all time.
He is recognized for his stamina and powerful shooting and he also was a threat from set-pieces as well. he was a left-back, but he also played as a left midfielder oftentimes. It's worth mentioning that he is the most capped player for the Norway national team with 110 caps. He began his senior career with Kumu and a year after he moved to Veikkausliiga outfit MyPa.Then he joined a Dutch club named Willem II where he stayed for 4 years.Hyypia eventually joined Liverpool in May 1999. It only cost Liverpool £2.5million which is surprising. He made his debut for The Reds against Sheffield Wednesday on August 7, 1999.

Kennedy was signed to Liverpool in 1978 on a transfer fee of £330000. It was a British transfer record fee for a full-back. When he made his Reds debut against Queens Park Rangers, no one thought that he would be among the Best Liverpool Defenders of all time but that was just the beginning.
Kennedy appeared in 37 league games for each of his first two seasons for the Reds and won the League Championship medals on both occasions.Alan saved the Reds from losing for several times. Once, He scored the equalizing goal against Manchester United, which Liverpool won in extra time, in the 1983 League Cup Final with 15 minutes left from the game. He won a total of 23 titles with the Reds including eight First Divisions, four League Cups, five FA Charity Shields, four European Cups, one UEFA Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup. Neal was born on 20 February 1951 in Irchester that is a village in the Borough of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, England. He began his senior career at Northampton Town and made 187 appearances for the club.
He got signed to Liverpool on 9 October 1974 for £66,000. He was one of Bob Paisley’s first managerial signings. He was a replacement for the left-back Chris Lawler.however, his best performances were in a right-back position.
Phil was nicknamed "Zico", which was the name of a Brazilian playmaker, because of the important goals he scored during the club's history. He scored a goal in the 1977 European Cup final against Borussia Monchengladbach and one against AS Roma in the 1984 final and so on. unfortunately, he was the captain on the night of the Heysel stadium disaster where 39 people died. Carragher broke into the first team in the 1997–98 season. Another Centre-back whose name is in the list of Best Liverpool Defenders of all time. Scottish former football player Alana David Hansen was born on 13 June 1955 and joined the Reds in 1977. It cost Liverpool £100,000.Hansen made his Reds debut on 24 September 1977 in a league home match against Derby County. They were defeated 1-0.
Rated by many as the club's finest ever center-half, Hansen was calm under pressure, Cool on the ball, and very intelligent.The Reds former manager Bob Paisley once said:'' Alan Hansen is the defender with the pedigree of an international striker. He is quite simply the most skillful center-half I have ever seen in the British game''.
He was in Liverpool for almost 15 years. During this period, he won eight league championships and three European Cups. Hansen was a powerful individual in the Reds defense, and his talent to read the game and shackle an opposition attack was extraordinary.He made 620 appearances for Liverpool but didn't score much but of course, it is proof that he was in the right position. He finally retired in 1991 after almost 15 years of magic.Like his teammate Mark Lawrenson, he had a successful career as a football pundit too.
