in April 2004, Soccer New South Wales (now Football NSW) declared its intention to bid for a license in the new A-League competition. by this declaration, the very first steps towards the foundation of Sydney FC were taken.

having passed some months, on 1 November 2004, Sydney FC was officially launched as a member of the new 8-team A-League and started its professional matches. they made their first debut in a 3-0 match against Queensland Roar at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford as part of the 2005 Australian Club World Championship Qualifying Tournament.

Alex was born on 12 October 1983 in Sydney. he started his football career in 2001 when he was 18. he joined Marconi Stallions in National Soccer League. there, he played three seasons and made 50 appearances. due to his great performances, he was acknowledged one of Australia's best prospects having been voted NSL Under-21 Player of the Year for consecutive seasons in 2003 and 2004.

On 11 February 2006, by his declaration, it was officiated that he was going to play for his hometown club in the A-League 2006-07 season. so by a three-year contract, he became a member of The Sky Blues. his first year with Sydney wasn't that much inspiring. but gradually discovered some of his best forms and became the leading goal scorer for Sydney FC with 8 in the regular season.
