The third person in the list of best Chelsea left-back defenders of all time is McCreadie. This old player started his professional football game with the Scottish amateur side Drumchapel team. In 1962, he turned down an offer to move to Fulham and instead joined Chelsea on a £5000 contract.

As part of McCreadie's move to Chelsea, it was agreed that Chelsea would play two friendly matches against East Stirlingshire. One of the promised competitions was held in 1963, but the return competition was not held. More than 50 years later, East Stirlingshire asked Chelsea to complete the deal.

McCreadie was a talented, compassionate, and timed defender who played for Chelsea in the 1960s and 1970s alongside the likes of Bobby Tambling, Peter Osgood and Charlie Cooke.

He played for the Scottish national team and won 23 games with the national team between 1965 and 1969. McCreadie's first national game was against the England national team. He also played in Scotland's famous 3-2 win over world champions England at Wembley in 1967, after which the Scots declared themselves the new world champions.
