Best Asian footballers in 2020

Although Asian football has never been as entertaining as European one, but during past years mainly in 2020 it has improved a lot and started to catch football fans eye due to the effort of managers and footballers especially the best Asian footballers in 2020.

In order to be the Asian footballer of the year, you have to qualify in many ways such as the ability to score goals and assist, skills, teamwork, and so on.

Every year, the Best Footballer in Asia with the highest total score is chosen by AFC representatives and judges.Each judge selects 5 footballers and awards them 6, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point from their first choice to the fifth one. Trophy will be awarded to the player with the highest total of points.

Since the year 2020 is not finished yet and also some annual ceremonies have been postponed according to COVID 19, the list of 

Asian best football players in 2020

 is not definite yet and the list might not vary much from last year's list.

Sardar Azmoun is an Iranian footballer who is currently playing for the Russian club

Zenit Saint Petersburg

as a forward.He began his senior career in 2011 and joined Iran national team in 2014. Since then he has scored 68 goals and became Iran’s fifth all-time goalscorer. Son Heung-min

Akram Afif

, we have Akram Afif a Qatari footballer who plays for Al Sadd, and the Qatar national team as a forward.He was the second person on the list of AFC's Best Footballer in Asia 2019 and he is widely regarded as one of the most promising players to play for Qatar.

Afif was born in Doha, both his brother and father played football as well. His brother, Ali Afif, is a footballer for QSL side Lekhwiya. His father, Hassan Afif, who was a Somali descent and was born in Tanzania, played for clubs such as Simba and Horseed.

His skills and abilities are one of the reasons which caused Qatar to win the Asian cup in 2019 and he proved  he deserves to be among the Best Asian footballers in 2020.

Afif played for several clubs and when he joined Villarreal, this 23-year-old player became the first Qatari player to have signed with a LaLiga side in LaLiga history.

Afif made his debut in Spanish football in 2016 as a substitute for Burgui against Athletic Bilbao. After some matches, he returned to his first club Eupen on a one-year loan deal. He went back to his country in 2018 to play for Al Sadd where he had a very flourishing season.

Takumi Minamino

Takumi Minamino was in third place on the list of AFC's best Asian footballers of 2019. This Japanese footballer plays for Liverpool and Japan national team.Minamino plays as an attacking midfielder or winger and has been in 3 clubs since the beginning of his senior career in 2012.

He began his professional career with Cerezo Osaka and then was transferred to an Australian club named Red Bull Salzburg in 2015. He played there for 5 years and made 136 appearances.In December 2019 he finally transferred to Liverpool with a transfer fee of £7.25. He became the first Japanese to play for the club. Since then he made 10 appearances but he hasn't scored a goal for his club yet.

He made his debut for Japan in a friendly match against Iran which ended up with a draw. Then, he played for Japan in the FIFA World Cup qualification against Cambodia.After that, he made a total of 22 appearances for his country and was very beneficial there. He scored 11 goals for Japan including the only goal in the Asian Cup final against Qatar.

Almoez Ali

Almoez Ali is a Qatari football player who plays as a forward in Qatar's national team and Al-Duhail in the Qatar Stars League.

He is the record holder of most goals scored in an AFC Asian Cup, with 9 goals, and played a huge role in Qatar's victory in AFC Asian Cup 2019. So, he is deserved to be among the best Asian footballers in 2020.Ali is the fourth-best Asian footballer in 2019 With 64 points but unlike the previous players he has not played in a European professional league yet but he did play Spanish third-tier league and become the first Qatari footballer ever to score in a Spanish league.

He began his senior career in 2015 and played for clubs such as FC Paschingn, LASK Linz. Then, in 2016 he was transferred to Al-Duhail and till now, he has made 71 appearances and scored 24 goals.Ali was a part of the Qatar U19 team in 2014 which won the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship. Then he moved to the Qatar U20 squad for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup. 

After some years, he finally made his official senior debut for the national team against Iraq as a substitute. He was selected for Qatar's squad in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup and played magnificently.

Salem Muhamed Al-Dawsari

is the next person among the best footballers in Asia of 2020. He is a Saudi Arabian footballer who plays for Al-Hilal and the Saudi Arabia national team as a winger.

He played in La Liga as well. In 2018, he joined Spanish club Villarreal on loan, as part of a deal between the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and La Liga and played against Real Madrid in which he was helpful.

He played for his national team too. He was called up to the Saudi Arabian national team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and scored his first international goal in a match against Australia. Al-Dawsari was named in Saudi Arabia’s preliminary squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. During his time in Buriram United, he won 20 domestic trophies with Buriram United including 4 Thai Premier League and 4 Thai FA Cup titles.

He has been playing for Thailand since 2010. In the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification, he received a red card in the 90th minute. After that, he played for Thailand U-23 in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games.In May 2015, he captained Thailand to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.

In 2013, Bunmathan was named the Thai Premier League Player of the Year and with all his skills he might capture 2020.

Baghdad Bounedjah

Baghdad Bounedjah is the last name on the list of especially best Asian footballers in 2020. He is an Algerian footballer who plays for Al Sadd and the Algeria national team as a striker. He played for clubs such as Algerian sides RCG Oran and USM El Harrach, Tunisian side Étoile du Sahel, and finally, in 2015, he was transferred to
