The giant Belgium goalkeeper had a torrid first year with

and was the subject of constant internet memes throughout the 2018-2019 season. This season, however, he demonstrated his great spirit and showed why Madrid was willing to splash the cash for him and let their goalkeeper and three-time UCL champion, Keylor Navas leaves the club. Courtois was a wall in goal for Zidane's side and his quality performances, especially in the closing stages of the title race, was a key factor in Madrid's title-winning campaign.

Another star defender in Julen Lopetegui's Sevilla side which ended last La Liga season at the fourth place,

has been flawless in 2020 and is indeed among La Liga top players of the year. He played 29 games for Sevilla, scoring 2 goals and assisting 4. He is famous for making an impact on both sides of the pitch.

Reguilon came to Sevilla last season as an on-loan player from Real Madrid. He benefited a lot from getting more playing time and established himself as one of the best defenders of the league. He was certainly a key player for Zidane's title-winning squad last season and is one of the Best La Liga players of 2020. The 28 years-old Brazilian has a unique set of skills and his timely interventions have so many times proved crucial for Real Madrid. Last season, The Brazilian recovered 12.6 balls for every 90 minutes, giving the front line many opportunities for setting up attacks. He also made 294 recoveries, 68 interceptions and 60 successful tackles, more than any other midfielder in La Liga last season.

As well as being a perfect midfield destroyer, Casemiro contributed a lot in the final third. He scored three goals and provided 4 assists in his best year with Real Madrid. Odegaard played 31 games for Real Sociedad, scoring 4 goals and providing his teammates with further 6 goals. In total, he participated in 17% of his team goals and was a constant menace for the opposition defense. Odegaard is the youngest player ever to feature in a qualifying match for the UEFA European Championship and at 21 he surely will be in the list of the Best La Liga players of 2020 by the end of the year.

At 35 he may have passed the best years of his career, but with the form he has had in 2020, he could end his illustrated career at Real Madrid in the most honorable fashion.

 La Liga title. Barcelona was marred by controversies during 2020 and paid the price in the most dramatic fashion as they lost the league to Real Madrid and literally got mauled by a ruthless Bayern Munchen in the Uefa Champions League.

 Despite the frustrating experiences, Messi won his fourth consecutive Pichichi award and showed once more why he is still the Current best player in La Liga. He topped the chart in many categories of Opta's last season's best including:

  • Total shots at goal: 125

  • Total dribbles attempted: 263


    Goal assist: 21

  • Goal from a shot outside the box: 9

  • Goal from a direct free kick: 5
