Wed 15 July 2020 | 10:15

The Premier League race for the Champions League is getting tougher every second with just two spots to be fulfilled with either Leicester, Chelsea, Manchester United, or Wolves!

In normal circumstances, four UCL places are given to English clubs who are the top four teams in

the Premier League

.

Time to take a closer look at the chart to see what has happened so far.

Who can make it to the Champions League next season?

In what follows, we will take a closer look at the EPL Champions League qualification so far:

EPL Champions League qualification

We know that the top four teams in the Premier League will have the chance to compete in the group stages of the Champions League and that’s what Leicester, Chelsea,

Manchester United

, and Wolves are fighting for, while the first two spots are already taken.

Liverpool has already booked its spot as the Premier League winners, while

Manchester City

has now achieved its spot as runners-up with the win at Brighton at the weekend and following the European ban being lifted.

It also has to be mentioned that

Liverpool

was knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid just before the suspension of football due to the pandemic of COVID-19, but have already booked their place in next season's competition as Premier League champions.

Now the question is which one of these four teams will perform in the next year’s Champions League?

Chelsea, Leicester, Manchester United, or Wolves?

After Chelsea's last night 1-0 win over Norwich, now they have a better chance to gain a

Champions League

spot next season. Knowing this, now it’s time for us to go through the details about each team!

Chelsea

Currently third in the chart and with 63 points, the Blues have only two more rivals to face after they won their match against Norwich last night.

After their crushing defeat against Sheffield United on Saturday, the Blues were threatened to transform the

European qualification

picture, but their last night win saved them. However, Lampard’s team is still vulnerable.

However, the team still has the chance to get their spot in the Champions League, even if they finish outside of the top four as they are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

But their chance is not that much due to their 3-0 loss in the first leg of their match against Bayern at Stamford Bridge in February. Anyway, let’s not count the chickens before they hatch and wait for the end of

the Premier League

and the team’s last-16 tie against Bayern Munich.

Chelsea has still two more games in the Premier League against Liverpool and Wolves on 22 and 26 July.

Leicester City

Next to talk about is

Leicester City

. Currently fourth in the table with 59 points, the Rodgers' team have done their best to get here since Christmas.

The team has three more games to the end of the season and to get their spot in the next season’s Champions League, they have to win all three. This is while Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are the only two teams they have beaten since February.

In their last match, they were beaten against Bournemouth with a 4-1 result on Sunday. The team now has to go against Sheffield United on 16th, Tottenham on 19th, and Manchester United on 26th July.

Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side is in the fifth spot of the Premier League with the same 59 points as Leicester City. In their last fixture, they went against Southampton on Monday where they finished the match with a late 2-2 draw.

The result kept them from a huge opportunity to jump into the top four.

The Red Devils still have more chances to take one of the two spots in the next season’s

Champions League

, as they have to face the two easy rivals, Crystal Palace and West Ham.

However, on the final day of the season and as their last match they have to travel to Leicester, which makes their work hard a bit.

In addition, the team still has to face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final and LASK in the last 16 of the Europa League after a 5-0 away victory in the first leg.

The Red Devils will face Crystal Palace on 16, West Ham on 22, and Leicester on 26th July.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Currently 6th in the chart with 55 points, the

Wolves

are also fighting for the Premier League top four spots.

Everyone assumed that the season is over for the team, after their back to back defeats against Arsenal and Sheffield United. But then they proved we were wrong with their brilliant 3-0 win against Everton on Sunday.

They now have to face three more teams to the end of the season. It also has to be mentioned that the first two are against Burnley and Crystal Palace, which seems easy, while their last rivals are Chelsea who is currently in the top three!

On the other side, The Wanderers are going to face Olympiakos in Europa League as the second leg of their match against the team. In their first leg, the two finished the match with a 1-1 draw. Winning that competition, they will qualify for the

Champions League

no matter what!

The team is going to face Burnely on 15, Crystal Palace on 20, and Chelsea on 26th July.
