Ibrahima Konate returns to Liverpool training after two months

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has returned to training after being out of action for two months due to injury.

Konate reportedly has returned to full training ahead of a visit from Brighton on Saturday. The 23-year-old has not played for Liverpool this season after picking up a muscle injury in the 3-0 friendly defeat to Strasbourg at the end of July.

It is unlikely Konate will start against Brighton and it is expected he returns to action against Rangers on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are both out of action due to thigh injuries and Andy Robertson also suffered a knee injury during the international break.

Konate joined Liverpool from Leipzig last summer for £36m and played in 29 matches in all competitions and won a cup double.

Liverpool has nine points after six games in Premier League this season and is in eighth place in the table. Jurgen Klopp’s side is nine points behind leaders Arsenal albeit while playing a game less. They will face Brighton with their new manager Roberto De Zerbi on Saturday lunchtime.

Liverpool also in the Champions League has lost against Napoli and in their recent game, they beat Ajax 3-1.
