Leonardo: Pochettino will remain put at PSG
The Argentine “has never asked to leave” the Ligue 1 side, notwithstanding rumors linking him with Manchester United, according to the sporting director Leonardo.
Mauricio Pochettino
has attracted the attention of
Manchester Unitedas their main target for the managerial role at Old Trafford for the next summer as the club is on the verge of appointing Ralf Rangnick as an interim boss until the season ends.
The Argentine insisted in midweek that he is “so happy” at
Paris Saint-Germainwhen reports claimed that he may depart mid-season.
"
I think it's important to clarify the situation given the amount of false information circulating. Mauricio Pochettino is under contract with the club until 2023,"
Leonardo
told
AFP
.
"We do not want Pochettino to leave. He never asked to leave and no club contacted us in relation to him."
Reports also suggest that PSG have met with Zinedine Zidane, who left
Real Madridin May; however, Leonardo denied such rumors.
"We have a lot of respect for Zinedine Zidane, for what he did as a player and coach, but I can tell you very clearly that there is no contact and that no meeting with him has taken place.
"It's ridiculous to imagine that a meeting with Zinedine Zidane could have taken place in a big hotel in Paris in front of the eyes of everyone."
Pochettino joined PSG in January on a deal that will keep him until 2022, but his contract was extended for another 12 months in the summer.
PSG, who ended the previous season sitting second, are leading the Ligue 1 table and have Round of 16 qualification.
