I played with serious pain in recent months - De Bruyne

Fri 12 November 2021 | 16:05

Numerous injuries in recent months have made De Bruyne's condition difficult.

Manchester City

star Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that he has played this season with great pain but feels he can improve his condition.

The Belgian star had several difficult months, starting with his injury in the Champions League final. He was able to prepare for Euro 2020, but suffered another injury in the match against Portugal. Despite the injury, De Bruyne continued to play in the competition and played in the next Belgian games until they were eliminated after losing to Italy. He was part of City at the start of the season, but an injury prevented him from repeating the good performances of previous seasons. Now he claims that he has not yet fully recovered.

He said:

"It's going to be a little more difficult this year than usual. It's not that bad, I think, but it's been a bit difficult physically and mentally.

"I came back with a lot of pain after the holidays, and then at the start of the season I hit a wall.

"I've been in some serious pain, but it's starting to get better. I just needed more time than expected."

Injuries did not affect De Bruyne's game-making, passing and shooting, and he recorded higher statistics than in the previous season, but in tackles and duels, his statistics have decreased compared to the previous season.
