Xavi thinks that Dembele can become the best player in his position.

Xavi

, who has been hired as

Barcelona’s

new head coach, thinks that the club must keep

Ousmane Dembele

, insisting that the French winger can become the best player in his position despite his fitness issues since his arrival at Camp Nou.

Dembele joined the Catalans with a deal worth €147million with add-ons in August 2017, playing 119 games for them, and only 76 of those games have been as a starter.

"He can be the best footballer in the world in his position,"

Xavi said at a news conference.

"He has spectacular abilities and a winning mentality. His renewal is a priority right now.

"We have to work with him and demand a lot. That will also depend on him, on his mentality. He will have to train well to prevent injuries."

Xavi has also talked about his thoughts for team reinforcements insisting that it is too soon to decide about such matters.

"We are going to assess it with the club and we are going to decide.

"It is soon, but we are going to work to strengthen the team. It is always an opportunity. For me, it is clear that we must ensure all the players we have are clear about what they each have to do in every moment of a game."

Xavi will experience his first game as Barcelona head coach on November 20 against Espanyol, and we have to wait and see what happens to the legend who spent 17 seasons as a Barcelona player and now wants to help his side as a manager.
